Panaji: CM Sawanth urges Fomento to leave Sonsoddo site, offers Rs 6 crore

Panaji, Oct 23: Chief minister Pramod Sawant on Tuesday urged Fomento to leave the Sonsoddo site and surrender it to the government. He also offered Rs 6 crore to Fomento as dues. The decision came during the high-power coordination committee (HPCC) meeting at the ministerial block at Porvorim.

“We will discuss this issue with Fomento so that they can leave the place. Fomento is demanding Rs 12 crore but the government is willing to pay the actual amount of Rs 6 crore and Fomento should leave the plant in the interest of Margao,” Sawant said while speaking to reporters.

He also said that both Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai and Kamat agreed to the proposal.

Waste management minister Michael Lobo, leader of opposition Digambar Kamat, MLAs and officers were present.
