Mangaluru: Former corporator alleges character assassination, caste abuse through website

Mangaluru, Aug 17: Former corporator of the city corporation here representing Derebail ward Nagaveni, has filed complaint in Urwa police station against Shashidhar Shetty, convener of National Environment Conservation Federation. She has accused Shetty of spreading false information through social website and abusing her caste by using derogatory words. A case stands registered on the basis of this complaint in Urwa police station.

It is said that Shashidhar Shetty had, through post made in the websites, accused Nagaveni of getting substandard works done in her ward and getting higher amount of bills passed by misusing her power. Nagaveni said in her complaint that the channel, NECF, has been indulging in her character assassination publicly with the help of fake documents since January. She said the posts had harmed her reputation. She said that she had visited the residence of Shetty at Ashoknagar to convince him of the actual facts at 9 am on August 11, but he had abused her with obscene words and also abused her caste. She said that he also threatened to shoot at her if she again approaches him.

She has sent copies of the complaint to the city police commissioner, Karnataka State Women's Commission, and the district convener of Karnataka Dalit Sangharsha samiti. She alleged that the channel being run by Shashidhar is unauthorized and sought action against the channel too.
