Mumbai: Train derails – check rails prevent catastrophe

Daijiworld Media Network – Mumbai (EP)

Mumbai, July 20: Check rails installed on the tracks by Central Railway have prevented large scale damage when Gorakhpur bound Antyodaya Express derailed on Bhima-2 viaduct bridge on Thursday. The rails made sure that the wheels of the derailed coach remained on the track preventing the train from tilting and falling into the gorge below.

There were 270 passengers in the train and all of them escaped unhurt. The trolly of the second coach which was derailed was removed seven hours after the incident that occurred at 10.55 am as the place cannot be easily reached.
