Kundapur: Kota double murder - Court dismisses bail pleas of five accused

Kundapur, Jun 25: First judicial magistrate of the JMFC court here, Nagalakshmamma, dismissed bail pleas filed by five persons accused in the infamous Kota double murder case on Monday June 24.

Relating to the murders of Bharath and Yatish Kanchan late night on January 26 this year at Manuru near Kota, 17 accused had been arrested. Police constable, Pawan Ameen, Santhosh Kunder, Tausif, Nagaraj, and Yatish Karkera had filed applications seeking bail. The judge, who had listened to arguments and counter arguments placed by the two sides, had said that she would pass orders on June 24.

Assistant prosecutor, Sumangala Nayak had represented the prosecution while Ravikiran Murudeshwar had argued on behalf of the accused.

The district court had earlier rejected the bail application of Pranav Raj. Even though the police have filed charge sheet, the application was quashed, taking into the request made by the police seeking more time to interrogate the accused further.
