Mysuru: Driven to penury by demonetisation, family seeks permission for euthanasia

Daijiworld Media Network - Mysuru (SP)

Mysuru, Jun 11: The central government had announced demonetisation exercise on November 8, 2016. This measure has come in for praise in general although there have been incidents in which people faced financial constraints. Several businesses went into heavy loss. A family from here, reportedly having been adversely effected by this exercise, has applied for permission for euthanasia.

Even after three-and-half years of enforcement of demonetisation exercise, its rumblings continue to be heard even now. Shekhar from Managanahalli in Hunsur taluk in this district and his family have sought permission for euthanasia, as they says they have been ruined because of the said measure.

Shekhar was into the business of making parathas and selling them. His business was prospering and had income running into lacs of rupees per month. He says he had employed 40 persons in his industry. He bought a site in the city, availed of housing loan from Dewans Housing Finance Company and constructed a house of his own. Shekhar says that everything went on well till demonetisation came as a bolt from the blue. He says his business slumped thereafter.

Because of steep fall in business, Shekhar could not clear the housing loan. With great difficulty, he could remit housing loan installments till 2017. The finance company served several notices on him and even tried to attach the property. Therefore, Shekhar, his wife, Ramadevi, daughter, and adopted son, Poornachandra, have planned euthanasia. A local, Satyappa, said that this family has written to the governor, chief minister, deputy commissioner of the district, tahsildar, and MLA, informing of their intention to subject themselves to euthanasis and seeking permission for the same.

Shekhar and his family had earlier tried to end their lives. A case relating to this suicide attempt was registered in Bilikere police station.

    Modi is responsible for this.

Business is very less after demonetisation, . Maximum people did not go to bank before demonetisation, . That means it is not the point that they does not want to pay tax. We had to waste half a day in the bank. That time we can use for business and earn little more.

Small bussiness man works till late night. Sundays and Saterdays also he will work. Very less he will sleep.

What is there if that fellow earns more.

Coolie worker earns 750 per day . How much tax he will pay.

750 per day means 2.73 lakhs. They don't have to pay tax. no tax till 5 lakhs.

This guy was earning lakhs per month! If his earning was genuine, how he is facing all these problems? that too for 3 years!! It's clear that he didn't deposited the money in bank, fearing he has to give tax when he is earning lakhs per month. Kept all the money with himself. When note ban happened, he can't exchange the cash he had, since don't have any records of from where he got all these money!

This looks ridiculous... he was running a business which was getting him lakhs of profit per month and as soon as demonetization came in to act , it hi this business... big question is why ? was he not paying Tax ?
if regular tax payer, then what impacted him ? It's very clear that hard earners did not find any issue with demonetization ... only the folks who were hiding from the tax and earning in black, have faced issue. so , this case looks he was not at all bothered to pay his tax.... also suspecting the way he has adopted... looking for publicity.

When they already decided to do unwanted things.....why need publicity. They are following congress culture...doing press conferences. Everything finished now..nothing is left...why need hope.
When you earned in lakhs what happened to that momey. What's connection between your business and demonteisation. There are people in society worst than your condition are struggling to live day by day in an hope of better tommorow. Still they kept hope on god. In business some time up and down arises. Wait for some more day. Give all nencessary thiings to daiva-daivas time to time. Nobody come to your rescue. Wants to fight oneself. Childrens are grown-up can also take an odd job.

On one hand you have salaried people who pay taxes and on the other are people like these who have prospered without paying a single Rs in taxes. I know of many such people who run shops , stalls etc and don’t pay taxes - they own land , cars , houses etc. which the average tax payer cannot afford - a very strange situation!!!

I simply fail to understand why these people did not convert old currency into new when ample time was given. Whose fault is it that their hoarding of old currency is now worthless, when they could have legitimately deposited the same in the banks of their choice when they earned it? Were they trying to beat the taxman on their business earnings?. .

Demonetization is a curse for those who evade paying taxes and throw their unaccounted money at the dancing bars, but a blessing for the nation. If everyone does business honestly and pay due taxes, the economy will take off at the unprecedented level. It is also good for the businessmen so that they can invest their profit without any fear from the taxman.

Dear family, kindly dont do something which is dangerous to life or so.God has given the life to you .you dont have the right to end by force.Of course money comes and goes.Try to have a simple life first. It might become better slowly.Once you end the life ,cant again do anything to start new.One never knows. If you cant pay money to your house ,sell it and start pay back.So many people too live without own house.Start again with slowly .Dont push children in your misery.Encourage them to start something new.Be father who encourages but not let down because you failed.wish all the best.ask some organizations to help you.

This is a result of tax evasion. Those who paid tax on their income, the effect of demonetization was only an inconvenience for the while. The underground economy has the huge impact of demonetization which is good for the nation. Before you seek permission for euthanasia, please visit the people sleeping in front of Tata Memorial Cancer hospital in Bombay. You may change your mind.
