Mangaluru, Jun 10: Even as different parts in the coast received drizzle to light rain in areas like Siddapur, Killur, Halady, Belman, Subrahmanya etc, most of the remaining regions within the twin-districts remained dry with cloudy weather. At the same time, sea has become tumultuous at various places including Udyavar and Malpe.

The meteorological department has sounded warning about possible cyclone. The cyclone is expected to result in gusty winds with heavy rains in Lakshadweep, Kerala, Karnataka, Gujarat and Maharashtra. The department said that the depression that has now been created will transform into cyclone within 36 hours.

The coast has been experiencing strong wind from the seaside and this is expected to gain momentum during the coming days. The wind may gain a velocity of 40 to 55 km on Monday and reach 55 to 65 km on Tuesday. As the cyclone moves along the coast from Karnataka towards Gujarat coast, it may gain speed up to 90 to 100 km per hour, the department said.

In view of the disturbances at sea, tourists have been barred from entering beaches in and around Mangaluru.
