Mangaluru, May 15: A youth from Vittal hanged himself in a lodge at Pumpwell here on Monday May 13. A case in this respect was lodged in the town police station here.

The deceased youth has been identified as Jayanth (29), a resident of Vittal Casba. He was said to be a civil contractor. He had left home on May 11 on the pretext of visiting Puttur. However, on May 13, he called up his family to inform them that he was at Udupi.

Suspecting that something was fishy, his family members had begun to search for him. As part of their search operation, they also came to Pumpwell and found that the scooter of the youth was parked near a lodge at Pumpwell. They made queries and realized that he had booked a room there. Even after they went to the room and knocked at the door, the room door was not opened. Therefore, the door was forced open. It was found that the youth had hanged himself.

Actual reasons behind the youth taking this unfortunate decision are not yet known.
