Mangaluru, Sep 26: As part of Mysuru Dasara celebrations, the traditional coastal sport of Kambala will be held at the 'Vijaya-Dashami' Kambala venue spread across around 20 acres on October 18 and 19.

A gallery is being constructed to accommodate around 15,000 spectators at a time. Of the three stages being set up, one will be used for public meetings, while the other two will have special seating arrangements for dignitaries and guests.

Spectators will be allowed entry through passes in three time slots each day to watch the event, MLA Ashok Kumar Rai said at a press conference.

A prize of Rs 65,000 will be awarded for the large pair of buffaloes and Rs 50,000 for the small pair.

He said there had been requests to increase the prizes in the senior category and introduce third and fourth prizes in addition to the first and second prizes. In the junior category, requests have also been made to award gold for the third and fourth prizes, besides the first and second prizes.
