Udupi, Jan 12: “The twelfth Kannada literary conference of Udupi taluk is scheduled in Lions club, Brahmagiri on January 18, 2019. Janapada scholar and litterateur Dr Gananath Ekkar will preside over the conference,” said Udupi taluk president Vasanthi Shetty Brahmavar.

Speaking in a press conference held in this connection at Udupi press club on Saturday, she said that the conference will begin after flag hoisting, welcoming president to the conference followed by inauguration at 10.30 am.

“Discussions will be held on reasons for lack of interest in literature among children and ways to preserve it. Children will present cultural programme, Ajapura Yakshagana Sangha Brahmavar will perform Yakshagana play followed by dialogue with the president,” said Vasanthi.

K Raghupathi Bhat, Udupi MLA will inaugurate the programme. Dr Sathish Kumar Hosamani, director of the department of libraries, Bengaluru will release book and inaugurate campaign for donation of books.

Neelavara Surendra Adiga, president Udupi district Kannada Sahitya parishad, Vasanthi Shetty Brahmavar, president of Udupi taluk Kannada Sahitya parishad, Nalini Pradeep Rao, president, Udupi taluk panchayat, Rashmi Chittaranjan Bhat, member of municipal council, M J F Lion Rajagopal S, president, Lions club, Udupi, former professor Upendra Somayaji, Dr Subrahmanya Bhat, honorary secretary Karnataka Sahitya Parishad, Udupi, Subrahmanya Shetty, honorary secretary, Valerian Menezes, honorary treasurer, Sooralu Narayanamadi, president Brahmavar taluk Karnataka Sahitya parishad, Poornima Janardhan and Muraleedhar K, honorary secretary will be present.

Vasanthi Shetty Brahmavar, Subrahmanya Shetty, Poornima Janardhan, Muraleedhar K and Ganesh Brahmavar were present.
