Doha: Stage set for MCA decennial show, GVOM semi-final on Sep 21

Media Release

Doha, Sep 20: Mangalore Cultural Association (MCA) is all set for double bonanza on September 21. With its glorious 10th anniversary celebration, MCA is also organising the semi-finals of GVOM-season 6.

The grand function will also witness the bestowing of 'Kala Puroskar' award on one of the most gifted singers in the history of Konkani music and wife of legend late Wilfy Rembimbus 'Konkan Maina' Meena Rebimbus.

As the event has received a huge response from Konkani enthusiasts around Qatar, the organisers have requested the audience to avoid last minute rush to the venue.

"We request the audience to be present at the venue by 4 pm. Since there is a big demand for entry passes, the venue might get full capacity on time. There is a possibility of denying entry to latecomers even though they hold entry passes. Since entry is free of cost, first come first seat rule will be followed," says a press release from MCA.

"Also request the audience not to block seats for others. Those who already possess the entry pass and cannot attend the show, are requested to inform the organisers by Thursday evening, so others can utilise the entry," added the release.

The decennial event will witness loads of entertainment. Comedy skits will be performed by well-known artistes from Udupi Alwyn Andrade, Sujatha Andrade, and Stephen Lewis. ‘Team Cornel’ will present spectacular dance shows.

Alwyn Dcunha, Joy Mathias Rai and Suraj Noronha from India will be the judges for semi-finals of GVOM-season 6. The three judges with their vast knowledge in music field will select the best among the best voices of Qatar.

Pappan-Joswin, the well-known pair of Wilfy Rebimbus troupe, will direct music.

Dony Correa will compere the event.

As in the past, till the point dead end, it is very strenuous to predict the results in the GVOM Finals.
However, this year one crown to Doha seems undoubtedly predictable. Good Luck to Clement, Alphonse, multi Naveens, Wilma, Collette whose voices I have heard as of today; wishing every other contestants great success.

Despite this, it is not their voices alone but the most valued, motivational buildup, perseverance, quality training organized by legendary MCA President, Veena Rebimbus Pais. Kudos to MCA.
