Madikeri, Aug 20: The recent torrential rains that wreaked havoc in Kodagu district have claimed many lives. Several people are also missing. Gilbert Mendonca is one among them.
Gilbert saved his family from the disaster. But now the same family is looking for him with pain and anxiety.
On Thursday August 16, due to heavy rains and landslides in the area, the family house of Gilbert, situated in Katikeri village near to Green Line Resort, started collapsing. Before the house collapsed completely, Gilbert managed to save his five family members. After rescuing them, Gilbert went closer to the house when the huge pile of mud fell on him, family members said.
The family members were taken to K R Hospital in Mysuru where they are recovering now.
Gilbert Mendonca is yet to be traced.
