Beltangady: ICYM Venur unit celebrates Independence Day, feast of Assumption of Mother Mary

Beltangady, Aug 17: Indian Catholic Youth Movement (ICYM) Venur unit celebrated feast of Assumption of Blessed Mary and 72nd Independence Day at Christ King Church here on August 15.

The celebration included the Eucharist in the church and the flag hoisting ceremony after the mass.

Addressing the gathering parish priest Fr Stany Rodrigues said, “We should be proud to be the citizens of India which has the richest history in the whole world. It has been 72 years that we received independence and the country has changed its existence throughout the years and marked its place in the world.”



The national tricolour flag was unfurled by Fr Stany Rodrigues and parish pastoral council president Ronald D’Souza.

Parish pastoral council secretory Steevan Dcuhna, ICYM co-ordinator Sr Wilma, ICYM president Delson D'Souza , ICYM vice-president Rupert Michael Pais were also part of the auspicious occasion.

Jovita D’Souza, former secretory of ICYM Venur welcomed the gathering and compered the programme and Delson D’Souza rendered the vote of thanks.
