Udupi, Aug 16: Karnataka High Court has refused bail to primary suspects of cattle trader Hussainabba from Jokatte who was murdered in Perdoor near Udupi.

Hussainabba was waylaid by Bajrang Dal activists allegedly in the presence of police in May this year. Police department enquiry reported later that Hussainabba died while in police custody. Hiriadka police station inspector and two policemen were arrested in the case on charges of dereliction of duties.

Since the High Court has refused bail to six primary suspects they can only proceed to Supreme Court.

Since Narendra Modi came to power in 2014, cows have won a near-VIP status. Rumours of cows being taken for slaughter can spark murderous reprisals and religious riots. However, many political parties, whose majority members are Hindus, do not hold the same view as BJP on cow. Many Hindus eat cow meat in states where it is allowed to be sold. I have seen an Indian Brahmin barbaqueing Beef steak for himself and his family in Toronto. There is no unanimity among all sections of Hindu population on cow as mother and God. Cow meat is being exported from India, unhindered is a reality, although govt is silent on that. Hence, some sort of "Live and let live" attitude among people is the best way, than doing murders and later rotting in jails.
