Mangaluru: Women come as customers, steal gold worth Rs 5.7 lac from jewellery shop

Mangaluru, Jul 20: Four women, who entered a jewellery shop as customers, escaped with gold worth Rs 5.71 here in Bhavanthi Street on Thursday July 18.
The robbery took place at Vijayalakshmi Jewellers owned by Lalitha.

According to the complaint filed by the owner at Bunder police station, four women entered the shop at around 11.38 am and inquired about the prices of different ornaments and left the shop.

After a while when one of the staff members at the jewellery shop went to a hotel for having tea, the group of women once again came to the shop. The women diverted the attention of staff and one of the women stole 6 gold bangles worth Rs 5, 71,300.

The robbery came to light when the owner was getting ready to go home in the evening. On Thursday the owner checked the CCTV footage in which the women were found stealing the gold items.

Bunder police have taken up the case.
