Udupi: 'Probe on Shiroor Swamiji death if necessary’ - CM, Pejawar Swamiji not to attend funeral

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (DC)

Udupi, Jul 19: "The government would, if necessary, order an enquiry into the death of Shiroor Math seer Lakshmivara Theertha Swami," said chief minister H D Kumaraswamy on Thursday July 19.

“Some people are terming it to be a suspicious death. If necessary, an enquiry will be ordered,” he told reporters who sought to know whether the government will order a probe.

Meanwhile, deputy chief minister and home minister Dr G Parameshwara too said that he will order a probe into the death. "I was shocked to hear the news of his death. He had done a good job as a seer. Some of his followers are raising questions over his sudden death. Therefore, we will order a probe," he said.

H D Kumaraswamy

Vishwesha Theertha Swami, senior pontiff of Pejawar Math, who was in Hubballi, reacting to the death news, has said that he will not attend the last rites of Shiroor Math seer. "I will not attend the final rites. If I get an invite I will attend. It is not mandatory that I should attend the last rites. I pray that his soul rests in peace."

Meanwhile, refuting reports that the Shiroor Math might have been killed by poisoning, he said, "Why would someone kill the Shiroor seer? His brothers also have claimed that he suffered food poisoning."

Lakshmivara Theertha died after a brief illness on July 19. According to Math sources, he died of suspected food poisoning. The seer was rushed to KMC hospital in Manipal after he complained of severe pain in his stomach. His followers have alleged that Lakshmivara Theertha was poisoned.

The untimely death of Shiroor Swamiji who has no health complication and wanted to contest the election and having a dispute with Pejwar Mutt raises suspicions. He is a direct confrontation with 'Ashtamutta' which doesn't go well with the leading shankcharaya of the region.

In the just-concluded assembly elections, he wanted to contest elections but some pacified to withdraw his nomination.
I had expressed my deep anguish on his sudden illness in the same portal but due to the administrator, it was censored.

There are powerful people involved in his death. His body should not be cremated unless all the investigation procedure to the reputed lab in India as well as abroad not obtained.

In my analysis, Shiroor Swamiji knows a lot of secrets and internal corruption of the 'Ashtamutta'.

I request the state Home Ministry to had over this incident to the state intelligence unit.

    RIP

GANESH, Mangalore/Dubai, May be I am wrong. As I know, in Hindu tradition, unless official information is given about the death, one can't attend the funeral. Now a days most of the Hindus not following this tradition. Pejawar Swamiji may be following this tradition. But we don't know what is the exact reason for not attending the funeral.

Why to react like this? I don't think what he said was wrong. Do one need and invite to attend a funeral. One more thing this guy is also an Indian from the northeast and not from China.

Check your spelling before tellin others to do so and I don’t think you are a doctor he told “morten” and you told “moten” so why don’t you just go and eat “mutton”

@Jossey S.Mumbai,a second post martum is not really needed, but his urine, blood and his stomach conents are important to decide to acertain the cause.Stomach contents if any they saved, can tell many things than necessary.Hair too is important to see since how long he was getting the poisonand what it was.
