Mangaluru: Scrap dealer attacked at Vamanjoor for not paying 'hafta'

Mangaluru, Jun 25: A scrap dealer was allegedly attacked by rowdy-sheeters at Vamanjoor on Sunday, June 24 for not paying hafta.

Khalid (45), a resident of Ulaibettu, is the person who was attacked by a person called Rahif and five of his accomplices.

When Khalid was about to close his shop at 6 pm in the evening, this group of six including Rahif, Nawaz and Mustafa asked Khalid to give them hafta. When Khalid refused to pay heed to their demand, he was abused and attacked with rods.

Khalid has been admitted to a hospital in Mangaluru.

It is learnt that Rahif and his gang are habitual rowdy-sheeters and many cases are registered against them.

    This kind of extortion is rampant in Latin american countries and these countries never progressed because of the fear of losing money and lives and are illegally crossing over to America.
