Udupi: Dalit, minority organisations to hold mega convention at Ajjarkad on Apr 24

Udupi, Apr 21: The state unit of Dalit Sangharsha Samithi (DSS) and district unit of Dalitha Svabhimani Horata Samithi in association with minority Muslim and Christian organisations will jointly organise a huge convention on April 24 at open theatre ground, Bhujanga Park, Ajjarkad, to spread the messages of Dr B R Ambedkar. The theme for the convention will be ‘Protect Constitution- Save nation’.

Addressing media on Friday, April 20, Sundar Master, honorary president of DS, said, “Prior to the convention, a huge procession will be carried out from Board High School Udupi at 3.30pm. The procession rally will pass through KM Marg-old post office- Jodukatte road. The procession will conclude to Bhujanga Park.

“The convention is being organised to fulfill the desire of Dr B R Ambedkar. DSS has completed promotion campaign in three taluks in the first phase.

“Social fighter and DSS (Ambedkar vada) and state general convener Shankar Mavalli will inaugurate the convention. Popular cine actor and revolutionary thinker Prakash Rai, chief secretary of Komu Sauaharda Vedike K L Ashok, and district president of Muslim Okkoota Yasin Malpe would grace the occasion.

“Udupi church priest William Martis will be preside over the programme. Leaders of various organisations, and other revolutionary thinkers will take part in the convention,” he said.

G Rajashekhar of Komu Sauharda Vedike said, that 'Nanu Gowri' newspaper will be released on the occasion to fight against intolerance in the society.

Shyamraj Birthi, president of DSS Horata Samithi, S S Prasad, district convener, and Valerian Fernandes, Prashant Jathanna of International Christian Okkoota were present.
