Dubai: Kannur man, injured in accident, gets Rs 2 crore compensation

Dubai, Apr 19: A man from Kannur in Kerala, who was injured in an accident in UAE, received a compensation of 11 lac UAE dhirams. The compensation amounts to around Rs 2 crore in India.

Abdu Rahiman is the man who received the compensation. The accident was caused by a UAE national.

Abdu Rahiman, a cafeteria employee, met with an accident at Al Ain Jimi in December 2015. He was critically injured and taken to a hospital in Al Ain. Later he was shifted to Mims Hospital, Kozhikode in India for further treatment.

The counsel for UAE national said that the accident occurred when Abdu Rahiman crossed the road carelessly. The court observed that the UAE national violated the rules and imposed a fine of 2000 dirhams.

The case was handed over to Salam Pappinnissery, the legal representative of Ali Ibrahim Advocates, by Abdu Rahiman subsequently with the help from friends.

A case was filed against the UAE national and insurance company for compensation. Following this, the court ordered to pay 11.5 lac dirhams, which include court expenses, to Abdu Rahiman.

Following the plea of the advocate, the court medical officer prepared the medical report after visiting the victim at Kannur, where Abdu Rahiman was having his treatment.
