Karnataka elections: BJP announces first list of 72 candidates, Halady Srinivas Shetty in

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Apr 8: The BJP on Sunday April 8 announced the first of candidates for the crucial Karnataka Assembly elections.

The first list has names of candidates for 72 of the 224 consituencies.

The list was announced after a meeting of the BJP's central election committee at the party's headquarters in Delhi.

The meeting was chaired by BJP national president Amit Shah. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, union home minister Rajnath Singh, external affairs minister Sushma Swaraj, Karnataka BJP president B S Yeddyurappa and others were part of the meeting.

L to R: S Angara, Halady Srinivas Shetty, Sunil Kumar

The list has no sensational surprises. Candidates from Mangaluru and Udupi constituencies have not been announced yet.

Sitting MLAs S Angara of Sullia and V Sunil Kumar of Karkala have been retained as candidates from their respective constituencies. Other sitting BJP MLAs have also been given the tickets.

Halady Srinivas Shetty, who rejoined the BJP a couple of months ago after resigning as independent MLA, has been given the ticket from Kundapur.

BJP state president and former chief minister Yeddyurappa will contest the elections from Shikaripur and former deputy chief minister Eshwarappa from Shivamogga.

The all-important Karnataka Assembly elections, touted as a rehearsal for the 2019 general elections, will be held on May 12, and the results will be declared on May 15.

Here's the list:

Halady did nothing despite elected couple of times. To satisfy his ego he is just challenging BJP and getting seat. Such people should not be elected. He is winning because of the local support, which will be not the case this time. Mark my words.

This shows how much bjp leaders are fooling the public. They say we belong to all communities and sab ka saath sab ka vikas. there are many able people from minorities who have joined bjp anticipating a ticket. However, it is unfortunate that bjp has not given to a single minority candidate. bjp is just fooling minorities and few people joining them. This is really shame to such people. bjp is 100 percent anti minority, anti dalit and communal party. I urge all people from minority who have joined this communal party should come out and work against bjp candidates.

From Calicut, with love, to BJP.
    Mr Shaji.,
First, try to stop BJP from making inroads into Kerala. You cannot, because, as you said, they are very clear. they do not consider minorities as vote bank and so, they wont please both minority and majority.
My sincere advice, dont bring in this religion rant, if you're a true Indian and a secular person.

Don't know if BJP will get required 113 seats, but they will do extremely well than 2013 assembly poll, Things have changed now, they have NDA at the centre, lot of finance to spend on election, better tactics, plan & strategy to influence & fool voters, PM Modi & the gang to do electrifying campaign, Sangha Parivar to light fire, Amit Shah to pull all the tricks up his sleeves & fool innocent voters especially in North Karnataka & rural areas.

Most of the candidate they have selected so far are very cunning and influential, they will play all the dirty & cunning ways to win. Lingayata minority status political game may play disaster for congress. They should have done this 3 years ago, not during eve of the election, which shows clearly politically motivated to split Lingayat votes & gain upper hand.

All are bunch of crooks, best advice is to press "NOTA" button, even then EVM will be---? Better stay at home on 12th May 2018, than waste valuable time in polling booth standing in line, in hot sun just to cast vote for these worthless, useless scoundrels.
    Hope common sense prevails.

God save Karnataka & our Democracy.

BJP announces first list of 72 candidates 224, none among the list is Muslims, Christians, Sikh, Buddhist, Jains....
Where is the 'Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas' when it comes to distributing tickets contest elections?

This itself shows that BJP is party of Brahmanical politics, which only want Church attack against Christians, communal riots against Muslims and so on

Most of the names in the list are same people who run the government from resorts, watched porn in the assembly and indulge in corruptions.
