Exclusive: Pramod Madhwaraj puts speculations to rest, says won't join BJP

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi

Udupi, Mar 22: MLA and Udupi district in-charge minister Pramod Madhwaraj, one of the key Congress leaders in the state who also holds the sports and fisheries portfolios, was recently in the news for all the wrong reasons. First, he was accused of Rs 193-crore bank loan scam, and secondly, a section of the media reported that he would soon jump the Congress ship to hop over to BJP.

In an exclusive interview with the founder of Daijiworld Group of Media Walter Nandalike, the minister opened up and put an end to all speculations about him leaving the Congress. "I have never said, nor told anyone, that I am leaving Congress or joining BJP. I have never thought about this, nor planned any such thing," he said. On insisting whether it was his final decision or he was still sitting on the fence, he repeated the same words with a smile. He revealed that senior BJP leaders in New Delhi do in fact want him to join their party, but a few local BJP leaders are opposing it.

"BJP wants a minister in the Congress government with a clean image to join the party to better its prospects in Udupi. But I have no such plans," he said.

Asked whether BJP was putting pressure on the income tax department or the Enforcement Directorate (ED) by holding some 'business file' related to him, Madhwaraj said, "I have no worries from anyone; I-T department knows that I am the highest taxpayer from the district, and I have a clean record. I am open to investigation by anyone."

Hours after his interview in Daijiworld's Udupi studio, he participated in Rahul Gandhi's road show in Padubidri and made a sharp attack on BJP's central leadership saying 'NaMo stands for 'Namage Mosa' (We are cheated)'.

Further, in the interview, he said that Rahul could not come to Udupi city due to his tight schedule. "But before the elections, we plan to invite him to Udupi and he will participate in similar road shows," Madhwaraj said.

When asked about allegations of Rs 193-crore bank scam, he said, the so-called social activist T J Abraham was misguided by two senior BJP leaders. One BJP senior leader and the other one is a leader who jumped from Congress recently. But both of them were left embarrassed after the bank itself gave a statement on the allegations.

Pramod spoke on various issues like Shiroor Swamiji's political plunge, the election trend in Udupi as well as Karnataka, his developmental works and many other issues.

Pramodji is an honest politician. No honest politician will join the BJP which is a party full of liars from top to the bottom. Communalism, corruption, when they fail constantly blaming the Congress party is their intrinsic nature.
Congress party admit their wrongs and correct their mistakes.
BJP always lie to cover up their failures and divert the blame to others while their own performance has always been abysmal.
BJP's Yeddyurappa government in Karnataka was the MOST CORRUPT government in the history of Karnataka and some blind BJP bhakts commenting here cannot see that. What is worse is that even now BJP have made him CM candidate.

Let me first congratulate Daijiworld.com for sharing interview details.
It is known fact that many of our Congress state leadership is hounded by PM Moi's CBI, IT, ED in the last few years in order to force them to submission to forcefully make them join BJP while there own corrupt leader projected as Chief Minister.
The timing of one such raid on Mr. Madhwaraj is living testimony of BJP, which turned blind eye on 39 billionaires who escaped India with daylight bank route.
Though Mr.Madhwaraj and late Scindia family from Rajasthan has similar in real life situation, we appreciate his work in the region comparing to sitting MP of BJP who are only good for fake news uploads and maintaining list of dead comrades of Sangh parivar members.
If BJP's winning all over India it is just because it is the opposition party candidates who are given ticket who have sold their loyalty. Today BJP is successive because it has able to purchase the opposition members with his corny capitalist funds looted from the banks.

    People,

Pramod is perhaps only person in CONgress party who is non-selfish and non-greedy ....

His father late M Madhwaraj was MLA Udupi from 1962-1967.
His uncle late SK Amin was MLA Udupi from 1967-1972
His mother Manorama was MLA Udupi from 1972-till recently.
I believe Pramod was born in 1968....his character shows his class from where he came from....

Raghupatti and Jayaprakash Hegde are no match for Pramod in anything...including charity...

Mattar and his gang can never dream of winning Udupi without Pramodh...

It was one of a splendid interview i watched ever. Walter you are not less than popular Editors we have today in India. The questions you chose covered all aspects and you put them boldly.

At the same time Pramod ji is truly worth for the popularity he has. Throughout the interview he was not at all nervous and was answering very politely and calmly. Such a politician with clean image and who is completely for the people are rare to find in the current Indian politics. His developmental work speaks more than any bad propaganda by BJP. Shame on BJP who is trying to lure/force a clean politician into their corrupt fold.
God Bless Pramodji God Bless Walter Ji.
