Mangaluru, Mar 12: All the accused in the infamous pub attack case have been acquitted due to lack of evidence.

As many as 30 persons had faced trial in the case as accused. Most of them were members of right wing groups.

Advocates Asha Nayak and Vinod had argued for the accused.

Judge Manjunath delivered the judgement at the third JMFC Court here in city on Monday, March 12.

Miscreants had beaten up youngsters including girls at a lounge in the city on the evening of January 24 in 2009 at Amnesia-The Lounge on Balmatta Road.

The incident had made national as well as international headlines. It had also attracted widespread criticism. 

Pramod Muthalik of Sri Rama Sene who was also one of the accused in the case, was in the court during the judgment.

Speaking to reporters, Muthalik said he was happy with the verdict and termed it a 'triumph of truth'.

As many as 27 persons had testified as witnesses in the case.

Defense counsel Asha Nayak told reporters that the prosecution's case fell apart as none of the victims came forward to pursue the case or as witnesses. She also said that the video footages of the incident were only secondary evidences which were not enough to convict the accused.
