Mangaluru, Feb 24: Police have taken more than 10 people into custody and are interrogating them in connection with the assault that happened on late night of Tuesday, February 20 at Bengre here.
There was a clash that occurred at Bengre on the night of Tuesday when BJP activists were returning after participating in the Fishermen's Conference at Malpe which was addressed by BJP chief Amith Shah. It is alleged that the sloganeering by the occupants of the bus was the reason for the onset of argument and clash.
After the initial argument was diffused and the bus proceeded towards Thota Bengre, people gathered in large numbers as the rumours spread that the occupants of the bus have attacked a house in Thota Bengre.
There was an alleged attack on Amir Hasan, who was going alone and there were group clashes in which many people got injured.
As per the information given by T R Suresh, police commissioner, more than 10 persons are being interrogated in this regard, and the investigation is on to catch the real culprits behind the whole episode.
