Mysuru: 'Gau Parivar' pens letters in blood to PM, CM urging ban on cow slaughter

Daijiworld Media Network - Mysuru (SP)

Mysuru, Jan 22: Members of Bharatiya Gau Parivar have initiated a campaign to send letters, using their blood as ink, to both the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, and Karnataka chief minister, Siddaramaiah, urging them to impose blanket ban on cow slaughter.

Bharatiya Gau Parivar functions under Sri Ramachandrapur Math that has been working for the protection of cows. Volunteers from different outfits have joined together under the umbrella of this organization for undertaking signature campaign against cow slaughter, which has been titled 'Abhayakshara'.

Those associated with this campaign claim that about 70 lac people in the state have already signed petition urging the concerned to ban cow slaughter. The initiative of writing letters in blood, they say, which is named 'Raktakshara', too has been getting full-fledged support from a large number of people. It is said that already over 500 volunteers from Dakshina Kannada district, known as 'Gau Kinkaras' have written letters using their own blood as above, said activist of Bharatiya Cau Parivar, Ravish Bhat Pidamale, speaking to an English daily. He said that under the 'Abhayakshara' initiative of signature campaign, one crore letters each are planned to be sent to the Prime Minister and chief minister. He added that writing letters with their own blood is purely optional and campaigns for the same were held in the city, Puttur and some other places.

"Under this initiative, three ml of blood is drawn from the volunteers through a disposable syringe, and the blood so drawn is mixed with anticoagulant solution and then the pen is used to write letters,"Ravish stated. Over 300 volunteers from the city and Puttur wrote such letters. All the letters under these two campaigns will be preserved in the 'Abhayakshara' office at Bharati college and later sent to the Prime Minister and Chief Minister, it is gathered. Similarly worded petitions read, "I, as an Indian, considering the values of my life and sentiments, and with the intention of fulfilling the contents of Article 48 of the constitution, out of my own will and blood, am appealing to you to implement ban on slaughter of cows and its family."

Vidya Aravind, another activist, said that a campaign was organized by Sri Raghavendra Gau Ashram, Malur near Kolar on Sunday. She said that the 'Abhaya Gau Yatra' organized by the Ashram had travelled across the state, covering about 4,000 km, in support of 'Abhayakshara' campaign.

Vidyalaxmi, convener of Bharatiya Gau Parivar, speaking to Daijiworld, pointed out that article 48 of the constitution speaks about cow slaughter ban law and that the movement to bring pressure on the Prime Minister and chief minister through pooling of signatures to implement this demand, is being pursued. She added that the campaign is targetted at six crore Kannadigas.

Sri Raghaveshwara Bharatiteertha Swamiji of Ramachandrapur Math is the brain behind these campaigns. Bharatiya Gau Parivar set up under his guidance has been providing leadership to the campaigns of obtaining signatures and writing of letters in blood. "We are asking people to take part in this campaign, without differentiating them on religious, caste, or political lines," she clarified.

In the past, the country had about a hundred Indian breeds of cows. Over the centuries, this number has declined to just 33. We have to realize the seriousness of this issue and stay committed to the protection of Indian breed cows, she said.

"Already 70 lac signatures have been collected under 'Abhayakshara' campaign. Inspired by the Swamiji, a thousand people have come forward and written letters without any pressure on their own, and signed the same for onward transmission to the Prime Minister and Chief Minister, she clarified.

The signature collection campaign is being held by the Parivar in fairs, festivals, parks, meetings and other public functions, Vidyalaxmi stated.

This has given me chance to share the knowledge about need of blood. There are many commenters in this forum doesn't know the blood shortage crisis in India.
With more than 1200 road crashes occurring every day in India, 60 million trauma induced surgeries are performed in the country every year. The 230 million major operations, 331 million cancer related procedures like chemotherapy and 10 million pregnancy complications all require blood transfusion. Besides this, patients being treated for sickle cell anemia, thalassemia and haemophilia require large quantities of blood daily.
India today faces a shortage of 10% relative to its blood requirements. In absolute terms, this means that we require to cover a shortfall of over 12 lakh units. Given that the eligible donor population of India is more than 512 million, this deficit is surprising.
In 2016, while 16 states and UTs faced a shortage of blood supply, 18 had an excess of it. States like Sikkim, who initially faced a shortfall had increased availability by 22%, leading to a surplus of 4%. Generally, Maharashtra, Punjab and Kerala are the best performers in blood donation, with each state having an excess of blood supply of more than 35%.
Shelf life of collected blood is only 30-45 days, which means excess of blood needs to be soon sent to all needy areas. According to a reply made to an RTI, the Mumbai District AIDS COntrol Society revealed that over 130,000 liters of blood had been wasted between January 2011 and December 2015 due to over storing.
India discards over a million units of blood collected every year, according to health ministry data. This is despite facing a severe blood shortage as only 9.9 million units are collected against the estimated annual requirement of 10-12 million units.
Now given the fact is this 'Gau Parivar' pen letters in blood to PM is worth?
Why this Swamiji himself donate blood himself every month and encourage others instead of wasting and spreading diseases?

Swamiji of Mutt in Hosanagar of Shimoga was at the centre of a controversy after the then Yeddyurappa government handed over the Mahabaleshwara temple of Gokarna to the mutt.
The Mutt have filed a complaint of blackmail against Premalatha and her husband Divakar Shastry. In retaliation, her daughter lodging a complaint against the seer in Banashankari police station.
Premlatha, on the allegation that they had blackmailed the seer and the math, gave a detailed statement to the police accusing the seer of raping her for more than 90 times at 40 places across the country between 2010-14.
Police registered the case under sexual harassment) and criminal intimidation. The state HC has adjourned hearing in a petition filed by Swamiji seeking to quash the first information report filed against him relating to complaint of sexual harassment allegations made against him. The pontiff, was questioned for almost 5 hours at the CID office & also HC issued interim stay on the Medical Test.
According to a report in Kannada daily Kannada Prabha, a 25-year-old woman from Uttara Kannada district lodged a complaint with the Girinagar police station. This is the second complaint of rape against the seer, who has been accused of raping a singer who worked with the Mutt.
Shastri couple, who had filed complaint of repeated rape against spiritual head has filed a complaint SIT which has been probing the murder of veteran journalist, Gauri Lankesh, alleging possibility of the Swamiji having been involved with this murder.
The timing of swamiji letter in blood with state elections closing in,campaigning for cow with pending cases against him is questionable. In the past 5 Karnataka HC judges recused themselves from a rape case. After 79 pages of judgement accused is clean & clear but the last page says justice and equal chance to be given to complainant!
Is Haryana 'Pitaji Mafi' is not enough for BJP to learn? Is PM going to take the rape and murder accuse?
    Dharmo Rakshathi Rakshitha!

    Dear All,

I saw their campaign in FB. Thank God this is peaceful campaign and it is allowed in INDIA.

Instead they should have projected Cow based organic farming, which is the need of the hour, as most of the food items today are not healthy bcoz they are grown using chemicals.

Even the milk from HF and Jersey cows is not fit / recommended by many doctors& researchers , Some researchers described this milk from HF/Jersey as A1 Milk, In one book titled as "Devil in the Milk", Core reason is that these western cows are not suited for Indian climate and hence develop Heat Stress and produce low quality milk which causes diabetes and many other deceases.

Greed of "milk quantity" over "Milk quality" resulted in promotion of HF / Jersey breed in India. Neglecting our own local breeds.

Whereas Milk from Indian cows is classified as A2 Milk which is one of best milk in terms of Nutrition as informed by global researchers.

I insist all to do some basic research on Milk, Thanks

Note - I can proudly say that Alhumdulilah i have good knowledge of Indian Cows than many fake Gau Rakshaks.

Cow protection is a noble idea. There are many breeds of cows disappearing from India. Instead of ban on cow slaughter, we should emphasize the protection of various breeds of cows. Might also request some subsidies for people who rear cows. But in a civilized society. we should not rsort to foolish ideas like writing with blood.
When we ask for complete ban on cow slaughter, we should also understand that we are causing hindrance to some other fellow indian's eating habits. With the ban, there comes intolerance, mistrust among ourselves(indians) and a communal divide which ultimately is bad for everyone.

Let us protect cows, let there be no ban on cow slaughter or on beef. Let liberal Muslims educate the uneducated ones not to make a living by stealing cows. Let them also urge the government to open more, hygienic authorized slaughterhouses. Lets us have a day when a hindu, porbu and and byari sitting in a bar with kori sukka, beef sukka and pork roast on the table.

In a democracy like ours, Who is telling whom what to eat, what not to eat, what to wear, what not to wear. All these jobless people should be employed in sheds where cows n old cattle will be looked after.
Almost every one knows that India exports Beef and this business has known ties with various Hindu leaders and Politicians - I am told. Hence why such a hue n cry about this.
What are we getting in doing all this, all of a sudden in last couple of years that we have such restrictions about almost on : what we eat / what we drink / what we wear/ where we go / with whom do we go / what God do we worship & whom should we worship/ whom do we talk - where are we heading to? If you eat Indian Beef in Gulf, you can eat as much as you want because the beef is exported to Gulf from Go rakshak themselves. You are not supposed to eat beef, slaughtered by a member of minority. First of It is a big beef export done by our own Hindu owned company. How it can not be stopped. Why attack people in the name of cows? We can allow thousands to be slaughtered and exported as beef to out side India? Business? Then why not let our Muslim, Hindu and Christians eat within our country? It is their food. I am shocked to see the horrible Video of cows being slaughtered in our Hindu rituals by thousands! Why this is ok ? Please if cow slaughter should be banned then also ban killing Goat, sheep and other animals cause they too have life. We worship cows as our Mother, then how come we can sit and watch our mother( Cows) eat Shit and dirty in the market area from Garbage bins? Why do we let them roam on our road freely, then if someone by mistake causes accident,we beat the same people for hurting a stray cow. C'mon people be open minded. Let us not play political games in the name of religion. My family has cows and we love them and take good care of them, but we never beat or stop someone who goes out and eat beef as per their culture and need from the market. Jai Hind!

Many of the super rich in the 1percent in India, have export business of meat, specially beef. They provide the funds to BJP to win elections. They want the cows to come to their slaughter prices at a throwaway prices to become super rich to add another extempore to their status.

Guys who are involved locally in cow breeding, the farmers, they are economically affected severely. Further, there is associated trade, local meat traders, household shoes and chappal manufacturing units in leather are all affected. Technically, a section whose income depend on cow breeding, they are from very much economically lower section of society. Well, they now have a chance to progress. Their fate is sealed.

Indeed people worship cows. The indian breed of cow is an endangered species. It has to be protected and there is already a law banning the same from slaughter. The cows image that is there in our imagery is of this cow.

BJP and RSS, won't tell you all that. It is politics. They made it as a issue for their vote bank, adding religion to it. People should wake up to the dirty politics and defeat it once for all.
