Mangaluru: Leaders condemn Hindu activist's murder - Katipalla bandh on Thursday

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (SP)

Mangaluru, Jan 4: As activists went around asking shops and establishments to close down immediately after the news of Deepak Rao's murder spread, Suratkal, Krishnapura, Ganeshpura, Kana-Bala and nearby areas wore deserted look like in the case of bandh. Bajrang Dal and Hindu Jagran Vedike have called for bandh in Suratkal and Katipalla areas on Thursday January 4. Leaders of these two organizations, Bhujanga Kulal and Kishore, urged the people to voluntarily observe bandh today.

Reports which came in on Thursday morning said that the police, who denied permission to hold funeral procession, shifted the body of Deepak to Katipalla without bringing it to the knowledge of anyone. This was done in view of security and safety concerns. However, the police earned the ire of activists of BJP and Hindu organizations who had planned to hold funeral procession.

Body of Deepak Rao reaching Katipalla

State food and civil supplies minister, U T Khader, has condemned the murder of Hindu activist, Deepak Rao, at Katipalla on Wednesday. "This is the handiwork of forces which do not want peace to settle in the society. I congratulate the police who acted swiftly and arrested the culprits in a well-executed operation," he stated.

MLA, Mohiuddin Bava, who was in New Delhi, rushed back to the city upon coming to know about the murder. He met relatives of Deepak Rao and consoled them. Bava promised to provide permanent employment to the brother of Deepak and also to make efforts to get maximum compensation from the government to his family. He also stated that he has already instructed the concerned to take stringent action against the culprits. Besides congratulating the police for chasing the accused and arresting them, he requested the general public to remain peaceful.

Chief whip of the opposition in the state legislative council, Capt Ganesh Karnik, has strongly condemned this murder. He accused the state government of going soft on murders of Hindu youth in the state, on account of which he felt, there is an increase in the number of such incidents.

MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel, has urged the state government to disburse compensation of Rs 50 lac to slain Deepak's family and also to hand over investigation into the incident to National Investigation Agency. He said these murders signify beginning of terrorist activities in the area, duly adding that he does not trust the investigation that would be conducted by the state government.

Nalin, Yeddy and Shobha they always do only one work i.e. blaming congress and requesting officials in Centre to give cases to NIA. They will not take any action if any innocent, common man murdered or any female get kidnapped or raped and murdered. Let Nalin give Rs.50 Lacs from his own pocket to the family. BJP has collected a huge amount from all of us for the sake of swachh Bharat, insurance and GST. To gain name from others Nalin will announce anything.

it is very unlikely that these kind of incidents would stop occurring due to the nature of political discourse in the our beautiful country at current scenario . Its really shameful for this generational youngsters in the time of 4G/5G technology being indulged in such anti social activities which doesnt help anyone except scoring some browney points for some outfit .

we are still at snails pace in development of human index when compared smaller but tolerant countries /Developed nation . Reason is simple we Indians are still are largely obsessed with caste/religion at heart than our priorities such as Job,Green revolution , Solar Tech and so on . Hopefully when our generation fade into oblivion we see the new raising and shining india without any bounderies and quota system.. Jai Hind

Dear fellow Karnatakans, let us not differentiate the murder in line with religion. Murder is a murder, its the untimely death of a soul. No one has the right to take life other than the Creator. Why we differentiate this??

Lets keep values of of education and stay away from the vested interests at the cost of the bereaved family. Lets not become puppets in the hands of a few and sacrifice our family members for someones gain.

It is said Religion is religion when it unites and its no more a religion when it divides. Let us open our minds and hearts to stay awake from all false leaders who disrupt daily life, daily wages, daily bread and peace in the society...

Katipalla Bandh!!! Culprits already arrested & BJP taking an advantage of this situation. Damm sure there will be more tens while procession. Section 35 implemented but still dept.. permits for procession - Strange.
Elected leaders of Mangalore north constituency must make sure & need to protect common man & their properties.
RSS goons will surely make the city tens & paid media will never act their responsibilities. Hope innocents & common people will not be in trouble.
Stop Procession , if any thing goes wrong- Dept. & elected leaders will be responsible .

Where was UT KHADER , MOIDEEN BHAVA when other activists were murdered in the past ? Why not condemnations ,why didn't they provide job to the families of the deceased? Election is nearing so its purely election gimmick.. Believe it or not those murderers will get bail within 1 or 2 days and they will get political shelter as usual.. Mangalore is becoming terror hub now a days ,like Kerala & wb, innocents are murdered for the political agenda. Central /army forces should be deployed permanently in the communally, politically sensitive areas..

This is the worst we have been doing for over 70 years from now and slaughtering our own families. Let us use our wisdom, not anger.

"MLA, Mohiuddin Bava, who was in New Delhi, rushed back to the city upon coming to know about the murder" - clear political gimmick.

"MP, Nalin Kumar Kateel, has urged the state government to disburse compensation of Rs 50 lac to slain Deepak's family "- Let Nalin give it from his own stolen assets.

These politicians are ruining our peaceful heaven. Even the personal rivalry is giving an opportunity for these cunning politicians. They only look at their own benefits while they don't care what the family is going thru. Sick minded people will ruin our nation. Feels really sad looking at these religious fights. It's not far, when Mangalore will become the next UP if these politicians continue. These sick politicians should be rooted out and thrown away.

Do not understand why lately the generation has become brainless. If one Fox starts howling, all the tails will start without any mind. Now this is the situation and confusing the young ones and pushing them into darkness. Result.. all runaways...If people are matured, then definitely these elements can be eliminated by voting for the best candidate and not the party. Hope u all agree.
