Honnavar, Dec 9: The body of Paresh Kamalakar Mesta (21), who had disappeared during disturbances on December 6, was found from Shettikere pond, Honnavar on Friday December 8. The death of the youth has given rise to widespread public outcry. The administration, as a precautionary measure, has clamped prohibitory orders in the taluk. In the meanwhile, five have been booked for murder.
Some people who found that a body covered in yellow shirt was floating in the said pond on Friday morning, conveyed this information to the police. Assistance of fishermen was sought thereafter. A boat was used to retrieve the body. People, livid at the development, organized road blocks, and downed shutters of shops and establishments, as a measure of protest. Buses also stopped moving around.

Five persons, Azad Annigeri, Asif Rafiq, Imtiaz, Muhammed Faisal Annigeri and Jim Saeem have been booked for murder. They were produced in the court whereupon they were remanded to judicial custody till December 21.
