Ready for any punishment if Congress suffers in polls: Aiyar

New Delhi, Dec 8 (PTI): Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar on Friday said he would accept any punishment if the party suffers damage in the Gujarat polls because of his comments.

Aiyar was suspended on Thursday from the party for making derogatory remarks against Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

"If the Congress suffers any damage in the Gujarat polls because of my comments, then whatever punishment the party deems fit I will accept it," he said on the sidelines of an India-Pakistan seminar here.

"The Congress has given me a lot. There is no future for India if there is no Congress," he said.

Aiyar handed the BJP a new angle, a new idea to spin – the prime minister, ever the nimble politician, took the comment and ran with it. He called it an attack on Gujarat, an attack on India’s great values, except that he also claimed that Aiyar had attacked him for belonging to a ‘nichli jaati‘. This Aiyar had not, but it was a good twist, bringing in caste and specifically, Modi’s OBC status which he deploys whenever necessary.

This outrage came in handy to avoid confronting the most horrific news of the day – the heinous axing of an innocent Muslim labourer in Rajasthan because the perpetrator was angry at ‘love jihad’ being allegedly practiced by Muslim youth. Neither the prime minister, who is supposed to provide the soothing touch, nor the news channels saw any value in mentioning this, forget about condemning it. It shows not just warped news priorities but the effective normalisation of random violence – especially when it is against minorities and the vulnerable. The newspapers the next day too felt the same, preferring to play the news down.
Here is a compilation of just some statements made by the BJP and Sangh parivar leaders against former prime minister Manmohan Singh. Some of them are far from decent, parliamentary language.
Sonia Gandhi’s ‘Maut ka Saudagar’ comment was widely – and correctly – criticised and was held to be one reason why the Congress did badly in Gujarat in 2007. Modi’s ’50-crore-rupee girlfriend’ remark against Shashi Tharoor was barely censored. Does anyone even remember the refugee camps for Muslims in Ahmedabad which Modi called baby producing factories?
Yogi Adityanath is in a class of his own. Much before he became the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, he had come to be known for some direct communal remarks. He was not reprimanded, but rewarded.
It was culture in BJP. But Aiyar made a statement in wrong time with absolute truth.

This is a trick by congress to save Rahul's face. If Congress wins then all credit goes to Rahul. If lose all because of Aiyar 's comment. And Aiyar took bullet for a family being a perfect slave.

How can you even dream of BJP Losing? Humans may turn unreliable, but machines (EVMs) will never.

Actually, machines can fail if the golmaal took place while it was being created.
See, even bitcoin portal was hacked recently. Government websites get hacked everyday.
Even your very own computer fails you because of a virus.
You should watch Terminator. Classic example of what happens when a machine fails ;)

And if the little bit of economics that I know of holds to be true, there is no way possible for a Political party to win if their selfish decisions hit even the commonest of people out there unless people were threatened to vote while voting or the machines were hacked while on the manufacturing stage or both holds to be true.
