Belagavi, Nov 16 (DHNS): Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Thursday said his government will not table the revised version of Karnataka Private Medical Establishments (KPME) Bill, 2017, in the legislature without taking the private medical doctors into confidence.

Replying on the issue in the Legislative Council, he said he will hold a meeting with ministers, including Health Minister K R Ramesh, today evening and finalise the government's stand on various issues raised by the doctors. The decision on tabling the revised Bill will be taken only after consulting the doctors, he added.

The doctors are staging protest against the Bill despite the government's assurance that it will not take unilateral decision in this regard. "There was no need for them (doctors) to stage protest. The Bill (revised version) has not been finalised, let alone tabling it in the legislature. I wonder why the doctors are protesting. I believe they are assuming a lot of things," he stated, urging them to withdraw the protest.

He, however, maintained that the Bill is in the interest of the poor.

This bill is not passed ,I wonder why doctors are making hues and cries.Everyone cannot go to govt hospital ,as we have very limited hospitals. Those who affordable money for consultation if they go to govt hospital ,where will the bedspace for poor patients.Bill should be passed in such amanner that saamp bhi mare aur laati bhi na toote.

There are some doctors in mangalore who are taking commissions (earning extra income),they tell patients that go to this particular scan centre only.Go to this medical store only blah blah...If patients ask for reference then its doctor's duty to mention or else why should they recommend .Its good that government atleast brought some fear in doctors.

You can go to government hospitals and get free treatment.
No one is forcing you to go to private hospitals.

We will go to Government hospital once the doctors practising in private return back the subsidy given during their education for getting the degree.
Government has to make mandotary for all persons who study MBBS to serve in Government hospital minimum of 10 years & then give licence to practise in private not parallel

When we created consumer court for patients.. that day itself the profession became business
When they asked to pay 'income' tax ...their service became 'income'
When we asked them to acquire trade license... their treatment became trade

    As simple as this

We need doctors we can’t deny it.
When so many doctors available it our choice to select who is Best and cheapest since we think spending on medicine and treatment is loss and doesn’t give any returns. Same way we don’t argue with lawyers when it comes to fees we know we are the losers . It’s just trust we have in doctors that heals us .

Its very sad thing that the private hospitals, clinics and doctors are on strike. What a tragedy. Are those doctors , hospitals and clinics are money hungry? Have they lost humanity? What a shame to their noble profession! Before blaming the Health Minister and the CM, listen to your conscience whether you are doing justice to the poor patients? Do those doctors have any moral rights or ethics to go on strike?Horrible thing, more than 25 people have lost their lives because of those doctors who are on strike. Even in the city like Mangalore, most of the doctors charge between Rs.250--450 as their consuulting charges, just for 10-15 minutes! Even some Ayurvedic doctors charge Rs.300 to their patients every 10 days. But there are very few doctors who's consulting fee is Rs. 150. Those who charge Rs.300-450 are looting the poor patients. Now the time has come that the public should come out and protest against such private hospitals, clinics and doctors for charging exorbidant fees. Can middle class or poor patients afford to pay such a heavy fees? People of Karnataka stand by the Govt and not with the striking doctors, private hospitals and clinics. So doctors think of the patients first, and money next. If you want God's blessings, serve the poor patients first and dont go after money.
