I-T dept raids AIADMK Karnataka in-charge in Bengaluru

Bengaluru/Chennai, Nov 9 (Agencies): The Income Tax (I-T) department on Thursday expanded its raid at multiple locations in Tamil Nadu to Karnataka. The taxmen conducted searches at the house of AIADMK Karnataka in-charge V Pugazhendi in Bengaluru.

The taxmen raided AIADMK Karnataka secretary's house at Domlur in Bengaluru.

Income Tax sleuths earlier on Thursday raided the premises of Tamil television channel Jaya TV in Chennai and a farm house of deposed AIADMK leader TTV Dhinakaran in Puducherry over suspected tax evasion.

The sleuths also searched the premises of some others linked to Dhinakaran and his jailed aunt VK Sasikala, said an I-T department official, who did not want to be named.

Jaya TV, the channel of late chief minister Jayalalithaa, and that is known to be a mouthpiece of AIADMK, is perceived to be favourably politically disposed towards Sasikala and

The searches that began early Thursday morning were being conducted over suspected tax evasion as part of 'Operation Clean Money' that was initiated post-demonetisation, the official said.

The simultaneous searches, spread across multiple locations in Tamil Nadu, includes the premises of associates and some relatives of Sasikala and Dhinakaran.

Dhinakaran, the deposed deputy general secretary of the AIADMK and who is locked in a turf war with the faction led by Chief Minister K Palaniswami and Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam over control of the party, said his farm house was searched while denying that his house was raided.

Among the premises being searched includes that of Sasikala's Tiruvarur district based brother Divakaran.

Also, the allegation covers aspects like shell companies, dubious investments, fund flow and fudging of accounts, the I-T official told PTI.

The searches at the TV channel's accounts section here is part of 'Operation Clean Money', the official said.

Searches also covered the premises of Midas Distilleries and Jazz Cinemas, the official said.

The two entities are perceived to be associated with some of those linked to Jaya TV, Sasikala and Dhinakaran.

Jaya TV also reported the searches by tax sleuths in its premises and at Jazz cinemas.

It was being conducted by more than 10 groups since this morning, the official said.

Dhinakaran, meanwhile, told reporters that his residential premises in Chennai were not searched as claimed by a section of media.

He, however, said his farm house off Auroville at Puducherry was searched. "I think they have concluded search there," he said.

He said an "official" visited his residence here and left. He added that it is, however, not known if the official will return and hold searches.

IT raids are good. But they happen only on certain section. All the rest are clean? Judiciary, election commission, tax dept, cbi, press, doordarshan all these work for the government in power. When we vote in a party, we actually hand over all these depts to the whims of politicians. And pay tax direct and digest to run the government, pay the salaries. Irrespective of the party, Indian politics and our tall departments are no more ethical. Now, don't jump in and compare us with countries which were never our models.

Why DMK leaders are not touched ????.
Modi's visit to Karunanidhi's house that to a month before the 2G Verdict.
It is almost certain that Modi will not get majority in 2019, AIADMK is a divided house without a captain. DMK has no opponent when it comes to 2019 election, it will win majority of the seats in Tamilnadu.
Its all about Post election Alliance between Modi and 2G heroes(DMK). They will fight the election without Alliance and after the election results there will be an Alliance.
DMK will support Modi after the election results are out because if they join hand with DMK before election Modi's image will be further dented.
Well we have seen Modi joining hands with the terrorist party PDP just for the sake of power in J&K, DMK is nothing for Modi.
He can go to any extent to retain power.
BTW....Its advantage Raja and Kanimozhi on December 5th Supreme Court verdict on 2G Case.
Raja and Kanimozhi name will be added with Salman Khan, Shivraj Singh Chahun, Bellary Reddy's, Yeddiyurappa,
Moral is do corruption, and join BJP to come out of it.
