Mangaluru, Oct 28: BJP Mahila Morcha district committee strongly condemned the alleged assault on a woman by mayor Kavita Sanil.
Addressing the media here on Saturday, October 28, Pooja Pai, district president, Mahila Morcha said, "Kavita Sanil used her power on a poor lady. It is condemnable. By this act, the mayor defamed the entire district which is known for women security. For her assault on a woman and her two-year-old child, she should be punished under Juvenile Justice Act. The news is going viral. The CWC should file a suo-moto case against the mayor. Otherwise, Mahila Morcha will start an agitation throughout the district."
She further said, "The CCTV footages released by the mayor about the incident are morphed. She released the footage of Mahila Morcha leaders visiting Sagar Apartments. We challenge her to release all the footages from the day of the assault, if she has the guts."
Roopa D Bangera said, "It is true that we visited the victim at night. But our visit was based on humanitarian grounds. A third party informed us about the incident. Being a pro-woman organisation, we ran to the place where the victim was. She narrated her entire story to us. It was then that we came to know that the Mayor was the accused in the incident. "
