Kasargod: Borewell drilling lorry topples, kills one, injures seven

Kasargod, Oct 26: A lorry laden with machine used for drilling borewell toppled into a ditch by the road, at Munamkadav, near Periya, here. A labourer who fell under the lorry was pulled out with great effort by the fire brigade, police and citizens. But he had succubmed to injuries.

The deceased is Chattisghad resident Buddharam(22).

Chattisghad residents Vijay (20), Chaturam (20), Shukaram (20), Raman Singh (23), Budwar (23), Tamilnadu residents Kali Muthu (27) and Velu (27) who were injured have been admitted to district hospital.


    






Seven men who were injured were sitting atop the lorry. As the lorry toppled, they were thrown out. They sustained injuries.

Fire brigade from Kasargod and Kanhanghad arrived at the spot.

This is the third incident in the district involving lorries with borewell machines. A few weeks ago, a lorry with the machine had fallen on a car injuring two in Badiadka. In another incidence, a lorry which was digging a borewell fell on a house at Kayyar Mandekavu a few days ago. The house was partly damaged in the incident. Lorries plying without precautions have been a cause to accidents.
