Bengaluru: Woman Congress activist suffers burns during protest against LPG hike

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Oct 8: During a protest organized at Mysore Bank Circle here on Saturday October 7 by Youth Congress unit to register opposition to hike in cost of LPG cylinders affected by the central government, a woman activist suffered burns to her legs.

The protest was held on Saturday October 7 under the leadership of the city district unit president, Raghuveer Gowda. The injured woman has been identified as Samantha.

The other activists immediately rushed to Samatha's help after seeing that her clothes had caught fire, and doused the flames. She has been hospitalized.

It is learnt that the activists had made preparations to symbolically cook a meal in the middle of the road at the busy Mysore Bank Circle. Three hearths fired by firewood had been set and three huge utensils were mounted on them.

As the women used petrol to stoke the hearths, it caught fire earlier than expected and spread before the lady could react, as the women used bamboo pipes to pump air into the hearths with their mouths.

Youth Congress president, Basavanagouda Badarli, vice president, Amrut Gowda, and general secretary, S Prasanna, were among those present at the protest.

Shame on those who are rejoicing at the accident of a women just because she is a congress supporter. When UPA was in power gas prices were half of this but still BJP people made more dramas than this.

This is not a way of protest, by blocking busy road and cooking in the middle of road; these actions will cost back to us only. The roads will be damaged due to heat and fire and traffic will be affected. no matter Congress or BJP its not appreciable and we should not support these kind of protests.

If all the Congressmen returns back the wealth looted by them from past 70 years, i feel these type of Physically harming protests by themselves uncalled for?
If they didn't loot the Country & made stringent laws for Population growth, this Country would have been a peaceful Country & all will be wealthy & happy.
But we are still happy to say "poor", because of the Corrupt party ruled us & made us poorer.

I pity Samantha . This Raghuveer Gowda needs to be quickly arrested for provocating such futile exercises for personal benefits. Will the price come down now? No way. Who will bear the expenses of hospitalization? Cong? No way . Wonder how these gullible people fall for this party that has lost its credibility nationwide.
