Mangaluru, Oct 4: A man was hacked to death by masked men at Mukkacheri under Ullal police limits near here on the night of Wednesday October 4.

While Zubair (39) died in the attack, Ilyas who was with him sustained injuries.

It is learnt that two masked men came in a bike and attacked Zubair and Ilyas, before escaping from the spot.

Zubair who sustained critical injuries died while being taken to hospital.

Ilyas sustained injuries on hands and feet, it is said. He has been admitted to hospital.

Sources said that Zubair and Ilyas had just come out of Mukkacheri mosque after offering prayers, when the assailants pounced on Zubair with swords. Ilyas rushed to his rescue, but he too was attacked.

Zubair was working as an electrician in a fish mill at Ullal. He leaves behind his wife and four school-going children. He was not a member or activist of any organization or outfit, it is learnt.

Sources said that a few years ago, he was alleged to have filed a complaint against a notorious criminal in Ullal police station. Even though he had himself not filed any complaint, he reportedly faced threats from the rowdy for supporting the persons who actually filed the case, but the matter was resolved through talks with the intervention of local leaders. Police suspect that gang members of the rowdy may have carried out the attack out of personal enmity.

Police commissioner T R Suresh, DCP and Ullal police arrived at the spot and conducted investigations.

It is not the fault of any Government. When BJP ruled the state that time as well we had enough and more problems. So, no government is a saint. And yes, strict action needs to be taken and hope that it doesn't continue like earlier matters.
It's not our mistake, we neither have good people to vote for nor we are educated enough in political matters. Pointing out on any government does not solve the matter. And the law and order is maintained well, a police cannot behave as a watchman waiting when anything will happen. When we live in a society where certain people have no morals, these things will happen. We all need to pray so that we can live in harmony.

Complete failure of law and order under Congress rule in Karnataka, they promised peace and harmony we are having bloodshed in Dakshina Kannada daily, hopeless government hopeless CM. Ramanath Rai and Khadar need to concentrate more on doing work on ground rather than doing useless stunts daily. A poor man Zubair has lost his life. May God grant strength to the family to bear with the pain . I hope this doesn't go on to a series of murders like before because This government is unfit to resolve any case or control law and order

Nobody can control these petty gang wars or rivalries. All over Mangalore or DK, people are roaming around seeking revenge. What has govt. got to do with such crimes. This is not a law and order situation. I hope your area "Merry Hill" is secure.....!

Who said nobody can control Gang wars? Who has left these gangs free? Why isn't the government cracking down heavily on these gangs? Shouldn't these gangs be behind bars ? If you let them free how can common man be safe? And my area Maryhill is very safe we don't have gangs roaming about murdering people in my area and we are happy in our area.

Rather than speculating, please give all your clues to the police so that they nab the culprits, blame game won't help we need action. State government has always failed to nab the culprits hence these people roam with full confidence and commit these crimes
