Bengaluru, Aug 21: A video footage at the main entrance of Parappana Agrahara central prison in the city reveals that V K Sasikala and her imprisoned relative, Ilavarasi, who are found wearing normal clothes, are returning to the prison. This video seems to corroborate the allegations made by DIG Prisons, D Roopa, that Sasikala was being given VIP treatment.
The video footage has now been entrusted to Anti-Corruption Bureau for detailed investigation. It is gathered that Roopa had enclosed this footage to her statement made to ACB.
The video gives an idea that top prison officials were hand in glove with high profile prisoner, Sasikala, who happens to be the interim general secretary of AIADMK and who had nursed the dream of becoming chief minister of Tamil Nadu, in extending her privileges for which she was not eligible.
Roopa had alleged that as per her information, two crore rupees had changed hands relating to the agreement to provide facilities to Sasikala including special kitchen, drawing room etc.
Sasikala's relative, Sudhakaran, too has been lodged in the same prison relating to disproportionate assets case.
After Roopa complained against her senior, she has been transferred to transport and safety wing, while Satyanarayana Rao retired on July 31 this year.
