Bengaluru: Ramanath Rai appointed state home minister - Reports

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru

Bengaluru, Jul 25: After days of speculation, the Siddaramaiah-led state government has finally decided to award the coveted home ministry to Dakshina Kannada district in-charge and forest minister Ramanath Rai, sources said.

The decision came late on Tuesday July 25 evening, reports said.

Ramanath Rai was reportedly summoned by chief minister Siddaramaiah to the latter's residence. The CM is learnt to have held discussions with Rai regarding handing over the charge of the home ministry to him. It is learnt that the CM also conveyed the Congress high command's wishes on the matter.

Reports claimed that following the meeting, Rai accepted the responsibility of handling the home portfolio, which he was understood to have been reluctant about earlier.

However, there has been no official announcement about the appointment yet.

The post of home minister was lying vacant ever since Dr G Parameshwara resigned from the post after his re-appointment as KPCC chief exactly a month ago to concentrate on the upcoming Assembly elections. Chief minister Siddaramaiah was holding the additional charge of home portfolio till now.

Fix those guys disturbing peace and defaming our district. Opposition party making the propaganda that you are appeasing minority and neglecting Hindu community prove them that you are treating each and every community equal. Give justice to all citizens of this state. You are the home minister to entire state not only for congress party supporters. You have the ability to deal with such situations.
I wish law and order situation improve under your dynamic leadership. all the best

Mr. Rai is one of the Honest politician who has not made any fortune like Shoba or Yeddy. Lot of people don't know that he still doesn't own any properties nor in his name or benami. He doesnt even have any bungalows in his native place or in Banagalore. if he has given the task sure he is capable to manage the ministry.

Congrats Baby Anna....... A Proud moment for all coastal Kannadigas.... Now the time to act I mean All NH's connecting to Smart city must be upgraded particularly, like during your tenure as Transport Minister you upgraded SH25 to NH13, though the Number had changed no sign of any improvement on this highway since then. At least Nantoor to Karkala stretch must be upgraded to four tracks before the assembly polls next year Baby Anna.

What is a point of having this useless post. Nothing is gonna change. Police will still useless at doing their actual jobs instead they will be busy catching the cattle traffickers transporting ''stolen'' cattle. Right wing goons will continue to do their usual thing. Moral police will rule our streets. Politicians of opposition party will continue to spread their communal vitriol in the state.

    peacelover,

I think even you have got yourself carried away but all the news of cattle theft. I simply can accept that there is a wide spread cattle theft in our district or any district surrounding it. Most of the so called ''stolen'' cattle are actually sold and then later reported as stolen. If these cattle are really stolen then i want to know how many of them are actually returned to the owners by the police. Many of the cow lovers are hypocrites. Many of them would hardly have enough to spend on themselves and their families.... let alone spend on feeding a cow. Their show of love towards cow is not real and they are doing it to manufacture the hatred on certain sections of the society.

Now let me explain you one more thing.... Cattle might have been sacred but there no proof that it was not slaughtered in the ancient India. If any person living in ancient india had choice of avoiding certain food then that person would have been really previliged. We live in a world there food is every where. you just need to have money. this was not the case in ancient time. And to think that in ancient times, the people back then fed even after it stopped giving milk is stupidity. Do the people even know how many years do cattle live after it stops giving milk? And i hear nonsense after nonsense that in ancient times cattle was not slaughtered?

All we have to is logic and reason to solve issues. Sadly majority of us fail to do it simply because of biases that we harbor.

    COW, (or whomever)

''You will understand the pain of cow theft only when it it is stolen from your shed''

Did you personally go through the pain of your cow getting stolen????

If yes..... then you should have been a responsible owner and should have taken better care of it.

    If not..... then shut up.

Encounter specialists are in opposition in Karnataka right now, every one knows who encountered a few criminals in South Canara, to calm the right wing groups during Yeddy's rule. Gujarath encounter specialists are now in Center with case still in higher court.
