Udupi, Jul 13: "A national-level religious parliament will be held by Vishwa Hindu Parishat in Udupi from November 24 to November 26," said Gopal G, organizing secretary of Vishwa Hindu Parishat.

Addressing a press meet here on Thursday July 13, he said that nNational religious leaders, swamis and saints will participate in the event. Discussions on protection of cows, untouchability, Rama Janmabhoomi and religious conversion will be held.

"Vishwa Hindu Parishat leaders Mohan Bhagwat, Pravin Togadia, Raghav Reddy and others are expected to take part in the national-level religious parliament. Pejawar Swamiji will be present as guest. Between 1,500 to 2,000 people are likely to participate. It is special as it is being held during Panchama Paryaya of Vishweshateertha Swamiji," he said.

Speaking on the communal unrest in Dakshina Kannada, he said, "Communal riots have increased since chief minister Siddaramaiah came to power. Leaders of PFI and SDPI organizations should be arrested. Assaults have occurred uninterrupted on youths like Rudesh, Raju, Kuttapa, Prashanth Poojary, Karthik and recently Sharath Madivala. It is said that police have clues of the killers of Sharath Madivala but they are not willing to arrest them. Fanatic forces are acting as backbone to them.

"CM Siddaramaiah is hesitating to take the name of Muslims involved in this case. Minorities are being supported here. Section 308 is slapped on Sharan Pumpwell. Cases are also registered against BJP activists Satyajith Suratkal and Muralikrishna. The police have raided their houses at nights without the presence of women police.

"Why and from whom should we take permission for Sharath's funeral procession? Protest is our right. It appears that the intention of the government is to harass Hindu activists. It is a mistake to have sent Kempaiah, advisor to home minister to Mangaluru. He has acted as a party agent. He has no right to call a meeting and address the gathering. Slapping of cases against more than 100 Hindus is unjust. Hindus are peace loving but they cannot remain silent when they face injustice and assault. Dakshina Kannada district police are facing immense political pressure. The guilty should be arrested regardless of status," he urged.

"Our Hindu activists have not done anything wrong. The propaganda is unnecessary. Hindu and Muslims should be treated equally in society," he added.

"Though there will be discussions on Rama Mandir in the religious parliament, the contruction should be legally approved. It all depends on the opinion of senior religious leaders taking part in the religious parliament," he said.

"Incidents of killing at Amarnath are heinous and condemnable. Terrorism in Amarnath has continued. Pakistan is repeatedly attacking people and police in Kashmir. Therefore the responsibility of Amarnath pilgrimage should be entrusted to the army. Terrorist organizations that spoil peace in the country should be defeated," he said.

District president Vilas Nayak, Dinesh Mendon and Sunil K R were present.

Discussions on protection of cows, untouchability, Rama Janmabhoomi and religious conversion will be held. SERIOUSLY?
How about discussing, Sanitation and cleanliness, Role of youth in politics and governance, Education, Awareness on child and women abuse, Modern agriculture methods, Digital literacy, Overall peace in Dakshina Kannada? oh, those are only for school essay competitions, isn't it?
No religion will do this as long as we, citizens, continue our religious hypocrisies. Progress will come the day when we stop being the puppets of political vendettas in the name of religion.
Be an atheist than being such a hypocrite Christian or Hindu or Muslim! Imbibe your religion's teachings, don't enforce! Peace!

Why these are not having their religious meet in BJP rule states? maybe they want to ruin our state and our peace, maybe they want communal tension in our state ? We Hindus of Karnataka want to live in peace with all other community brothers and sisters, so please leave us alone.
CM of Karnataka please do not give them any permission to have their gathering.

i welcome, its the right of all the religious organisations, but please dont give hate speech and spew venom. If you really want peace then dont speak about other religions, speak on how to uplift the hindu community, how to create jobs for hindu youth, how to help the hindu farmers. You will be blessed.

Those are bad for the society and work against social hand religious harmony should be dealt with iron fist! Pumpwell is not above law nor a saint!!
At this time of communal unrest in DK, people should go bit slow on religion agenda and this kind of meets for the good of mass! Sensible people will certainly spit on direct and indirect attempts made to stir muddy water! These days most domestic workers are behind various religion outfits and love trouble to amass wealth! Hope our upright police officers along with sensible citizens support will make them go back home earn a good living by means of hard work....! Lots of people are getting to moral and religion protection groups hoping for easy political money....may be thats the reason we are left with very poor roads, garbage and unworthy project completions!!
All the press gathering related to even a minute bit of religion (be it any religion) should be banned for at least for one year until normalcy returns to Karnataka! There are few TV channels just waiting to put silly communal news as breaking news to get viewership, needless to say who owns them! They are irresponsible and are desh Drohi's!
