Mangaluru: Mayor Kavita Sanil raids illegal skill game parlour at Jyothi

Mangaluru, Jul 6: Mayor Kavita Sanil on Thursday July 6 along with a team of officials raided an illegal skill game parlour in the city.

The mayor and her team raided the game parlour located at Jyothi. During the raid, more than 100 youths were found playing skill games.

On being raided, the youths ran helter-skelter and escaped through the multiple exits of the parlour.

The skill game parlour was illegally built by encroaching parking space and was functioning without trade licence. The building too was illegal, it is learnt.

The mayor ordered the officials to seize the building and warned of further action against other illegal parlours and constructions in future.

Kavita Sanil said that the raid was carried out based on a complaint from a parent that students spend money on games and waste their time in these centres. She said that hundreds of students come to the game parlour and squader their parents' money.

She also said that the police have been informed about the illegal game parlour, adding that she will probe into how the illegal parlour escape the police department's notice.

She also urged parents to keep a watch on their children to ensure they do not spend time and money on skill game centres, and to inform the police or the MCC if such situations arise.

    Dear Mayor p,ease also do surprise checks on all residential cum commercial buildings. Most of the commercial units have opened toilets and canteens and are freely using the water supplied for residents without paying any money to the corporation or the building association. Since most of the residents in the building are tenants they are going Scott free.

    BEst of the article is " game parlour was illegally built by encroaching parking space and was functioning without trade licence. The building too was illegal" and police says they were not aware.... proud moment for all the police authorities... heart of Mangalore.... such a game parlour operated... I trust all are clear why police must be silent... no need of any justification. At least , Mayor found it her responsibility to stop this. Hearty congratulations to the Mayor... We are eager to see many more actions by young and dynamic Mayor.

    Many youths are nowadays addicted to computer games and other computer related activities. They not only waste time but their hard earned money on this. Parents must check the activities of children Otherwise children can get doomed in games and they will get spoiled. Its good that such illeagal cnetres are raided by police and the authorities. Unless we take strict action on this parlours we will see a young generation going astray. Good activity in the end.

    Great Job. One more tip to all . Illegal use of public property by builders opposite Early learning school. all the construction material dumped on the road which makes life of school children very diffcult. When questioned they say its deputy mayors area and noone can touch. Can some one inform mayor about this and save a life of kid.

    Well done MAYOR. What other previous mayors have not done you have shown your guts and acted to raid this game parlour. Carry on such raids to other clubs, parlours etc and stop this as students are also playing and spoiling their career.

    It seems this parlour runs only day time,
    Day time police are more busy with catching Bikers without Helmets!
    Hampankatta near Milagrees cross road one-way catching only fro 2 wheelers,Rickshaws are allowed come opposite of one way (deal)

    A VERY GOOD MOVE on the part of lady Mayor to raid a place illegal games are played. This should be a lesson to other areas where such activities take place.

    Of course in the case of games of skill like bridge, people should be allowed to recreate in this kind of pastime.

    Thanks to mayor for taking quick action in raiding illegal parlour. She has to do more on homestays, hygiene standards of hospitals and restaurant kitchens ,use of hand glouses in restaurant serving staff.. Also over flowing drainage water in to rain water canals which spreads Deadly diseases like Malaria and dangue due to mosquitos.

    when this building is built illegal,then it is time to demolish it and the owner should pay a heavy penalty ,due taxes,and not allowed to carry on further.It is not done with a warning.should be consequent.Why was the police or MCC was not aware of such action?First of all building illegal?findout who carried out this.

    Kudos to the parents who took the courage to inform the matter to the authorities. Some people are doing out of the way business in residential areas etc. to avoid licence fees, taxation etc. Now due to GST these type of activities definitely going to rise.Hence it is the responsible of citizens to come forward and inform the same to the concerned authorities.
