Mangaluru, Jun 23: Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has criticized the district administration, police department and people's representatives in controlling communal clashes and murder of innocent people in Dakshina Kannada district. The party gave a call for the resignation of district in-charge minister, B Ramanath Rai, for his inability to make the officials bring the situation under control.

Addressing a press conference in SDPI office here on Thursday June 22, national general secretary of SDPI, Illyas Muhammed Thumbay, asked the district administration to own responsibility for failing to control communally charged atmosphere in the district and Sangh Parivar activists. He demanded the immediate arrest of the killers of Muhammed Ashraf Kalayi from Ammunje and also those who provoked the attackers. Noting that Ramanath Rai's confession that the police are not heeding to his advice exposes his helplessness, he advised Rai to resign from the post, and sought appointment of some other minister as district in-charge.

He said that the effort to project murdered Muhammed Ashraf, who was innocent, as a rowdy sheeter has given rise to a sense of insecurity among the people. "We have information that police have been hand in glove with the Sangh Parivar. In the recent incident of stone pelting at Kalladka, 23 Muslims were arrested because of police personnel who do not obey sincere police officers. In the case of Jaleel Karopady's murder too, the person identified by the victim's father has not yet been arrested, and murderers are being shielded," he alleged.

Noting that transfer of superintendent of police is not a remedy to this problem, he insisted that minorities who are being blamed for communal mindset actually are not communal. He demanded suitable compensation for the family of Muhammed Ashraf, who has left behind wife and three children.

SDPI district vice president, Siddique Puttur, district secretary Iqbal Bellare, district treasurer, Iqbql Goodinabali and several others were present.

I agree to SDPIS demand of resignation of Rai. Ramanatha Rai is cashing in on the disturbances to project himself as a ' minority saviour' . Rai had promised in his election speech that he would arrest Bhat if he is elected. Why didnt Rai act when Bhat made fiery speeches 3 years ago. Bhat in fact challenged the Cong and Rai openly to file a case against him. The Cong kept quiet. The videos are on youtube. Suddenly now Rai wants Bhatt arrested just when are elections around and is provoking others as well to join. Any fool would understand the reason behind it.

Its in one sense true that the Government has failed to control violence at our area, Every something unwanted is happening to destroy the peace. Tough action must be initiated against the people who incite violence and destroy our peace. India is a secular nation and we shall remain as one. No element can destory our peace. I am praying for peace. Lets live as one as Indians and not as differant groups. Its only few fringe groups that create tension. Most ordinary people live nicely. Lets not fall into communal trap and India will remain as one. Lets join together and defeat this elements which try to create rift in our society. Bharath matha is one and she wants all of us to live as one. There is no place for division amongenst us. May God bless our area and peace will return soon.

Well said Raman, we are the children of Bharat Matha, we are Indians. We can differentiate our selves as Rich, Middle Class and Poor, and nothing else, when Politicians differentiate us with our Religion, with our Cast, Creed, native, outsider every things goes hay wire, why they make it , it is a well known fact, that they are greedy, they play Vote Bank Politics. There are many many instances, that the Refugees from neighbouring Countries are being provided with Ration Card, Election ID and Adhaar Card. Until the Politicians change their mind set, nothing can be done. We are good people . In olden days Britishers exploited us, and now our greedy Politicians exploiting us. Jai Hind
