Udupi: Woman files complaint of cheating, domestic violence against husband

Udupi, Jun 20: In a complaint filed at Kaup police station, a newly married woman has alleged that her husband and his family has cheated her by providing wrong information during the marriage, and when she approached them and questioned about this issue, her husband and his family members inflicted domestic violence including mental torture on her. The woman, who belongs to Koppalathota in Kaup, had married nearly a month back.

Kavita Shetty, native of Koppalathota of Kaup Padu village in the district, had married Nitesh Shetty from Katapadi, who claimed to have been employed with a shipping company based in USA. It is said that Kavita began receiving calls from some people having financial dealings with her husband. Some among them told her that Nitesh had borrowed money from them and that he was not repaying it. Some also claimed that Nitesh is not employed with the shipping company now.

When Kavita confronted Nitesh on the basis of this information, the complainant says, that Nitesh, his sister, Suma, and Suma's mother-in-law, Geeta, had inflicted mental and physical torture to her.

The police have registered a case. Investigation has begun into this complaint.
