'Rename Gateway as Bharat Dwaar' says, BJP MLA

Mumbai, Jun 12 (TOI): BJP MLA from south Mumbai Raj Purohit has demanded that the Gateway of India should be renamed as 'Bharat Dwaar'.

He will hand over a letter to the CM demanding that Gateway be renamed as 'Bharat Dwaar' as all British era names of railway stations have been changed. "Indian name would give a 'sense of pride' to all Indians," said Purohit.

    We all treasure old values, ideas, things and so on. What is the big deal about changing the name...........Will it bring a better life or living conditions to the Mumbaikars or Indians...... I still hear lots and lots of people still saying BOMBAY.

    There are many British names of streets not changed to Indian specially in Mumbai Red light area Indian name would give a 'sense of pride' to all Indians.
