Kasargod, Jun 10: In a tragic incident, three children drowned in a pond near Mada of Udyavar in Manjeshwar here on Saturday June 10.
The deceased have been identified as Hashim (11), Abdul Afrid (10) and Mohammed Saleem (11), residents of BS Nagar, Kunjathur.
All three were students of sixth standard.
They had been to the pond in the evening for a bath when the incident took place, sources said.
When the boys did not return home even by nightfall, their worried parents and family members began a search for them. During the search, they found the footwear of the children near the pond. On searching further, they found their bodies in the water.
The bodies were retrieved and shifted to the morgue at Mangalpady.
Manjeshwar police arrived at the spot and registered a case.
