Udupi: Immaculate Conception statue brought back to Gangolli church in grandeur

Udupi, May 16: As a part of the inauguration and blessing of the newly built Our Lady of Immaculate Conception Church, Gangolli, the statue of the Immaculate Conception was brought to the church after being taken to different wards of the parish on Sunday, May 14. Confraternity Sunday was also observed on the same day.

The statue was brought to the church from St Joseph Vaz Chapel Kannadkudru. Fr Anil D’Souza, dean, Kundapura Deanery, inaugurated the vehicular procession by garlanding the Our Lady of Immaculate Conception Statue.

Fr Anil D’Souza presided over the solemn Mass. Fr Albert Crasta, the parish priest, was the concelebrant.Gerald Crasta vice president, Preethi Fernandes secretary of the parish pastoral council, other members, and parishioners took an active part in the entire celebration.


    




















On Saturday, May 13, Dr Gerald Issac Lobo, Bishop, diocese of Udupi blessed and inaugurated the new Belfry Tower of the church. Fr Anil D’Souza, dean, Kundapura Deanery, Fr Albert Crasta, Gerald Crasta, Preethi Fernandes, and other were present.
 
As part of the inaugural of the new church, a votive procession will be held on Tuesday, May 16. Abhinandan Shetty, an industrialist, will flag off the procession. Following which, an inter-religious meet will be held on the church grounds.

G Vedavyasa K Acharya, Purohith Gangolli, Moulana Abdul Salam Madani, Imamullala, Fr Louis D’Sa, director, commission for inter-religious dialogue, Udupi, G K Sheena, manager, Sri Mahalaxmi Co–Operative Bank Ltd Gangolli, Manzoor H Nakhuda, correspondent, Anjuman English Medium School, Gangolli will be present.
 
On Thursday, May 18, Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, bishop, diocese of Udupi, and Dr Robert Miranda, Bishop, diocese of Gulbarga, will bless and inaugurate the new church dedicated to Our Lady of Immaculate Conception Church, Gangolli.
 
In the felicitation programme Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo, Bishop, diocese of Udupi will preside over the function, while Dr Robert Miranda, Bishop, diocese of Gulbarga, Fr Anil D’Souza, dean, Kundapura deanery, Pramod Madhwaraj, B S Yeddyurappa, Member of Parliament, Shivamogga, Oscar Fernandes, member of Rajya Sabha, Ivan D’Souza, MLC and chief whip of the assembly, Gopal Poojary, chairperson, KSRTC, MLA Byndoor, J R Lobo, MLA Mangalore South, will be the chief guests.

Fr Alphonsus D’Lima, rector, Minor Seminary, diocese of Udupi, M M Ibrahim, managing director, Quality Exports, Goa, Narashima Poojary, managing director, Goan Bounty, Goa, Seetharam Shetty, administrator, Gangolli panchayat will be guests of honor of the event.
