Bantwal, Apr 25: The weapon purportedly used for killing Abdul Jaleel, who was vice president of Karopadi gram panchayat, 2 two-wheelers without number plates and blood stained clothes were recovered from the bush near Mithanadka.

Two machetes were also found at Challangara Muguli on Bayar Mithanadka road on Monday morning, April 24.

The police have taken them into custody as per information by the locals.

Abdul Jaleel

Police had received information that the suspects had fled on April 20 via Bayaru road after the said murder. They hid the weapon and bikes, changed their blood-stained clothes and went to Uppala through other vehicles and escaped elsewhere from there.

The police team has not so far been able to arrest any of the suspects. With the bikes and weapon, the investigating team has received definite clues.

Investigations in progress

Although rumours run thick and thin about these things having connection with Jaleel's murder, there are several who suspect this to be a ploy of the murderers to mislead investigation. Because, during their investigation, police had gathered information that the accused had used a new FZ and aother black colour Pulsar motor bike. The vehicles found now are two very old Pulsar bikes, both of which have only scrap value. There are no blood stains on the sharp weapon recovered here. The suspicion also gains credence as the killers had taken different routes to escape after the murder. The finding of two two-wheelers at the same spot contradicts this information.

One of the two bikes belongs to a resident from Kanyana village. Because of various problems with its engine, the owner of this bike had stopped using it and parked it near a public well. This non-functional motor bike happens to be one among the two vehicles recovered in this incident. This goes to prove that the killers are doing everything within their command to hoodwink police in an effort to bide time and thereby permanently derail investigation.
