Mangaluru, Apr 24: Nimika Ratnakar from the city has been chosen for Miss Supertalent of the World pageant being held in South Korea. The event is being held by South Korean government in association with Suta Group.
The competition, where talent and beauty will be tested in the form of acting skills, singing, choreography and modelling, is being held at Seoul from April 23 to May 13. The competition was earlier known with the name, Miss Asia Pacific. Talented beauties from 50 countries will be vying for the coveted title, and Nimika happens to be the only girl to represent India in this competition.
Nimika, who is a model-cum-playback singer in Bengaluru, will be doing the cat walk in a dress designed after serpent god Adishesha. She says she chose this design to showcase the uniqueness of coastal Karnataka in front of the world. She also revealed that during the talent round, she will be rendering Tulu song to introduce to the people about the existence and beauty of Tulu language.
Her dresses which will be in tune with Indian culture, traditions, and fantasy, have been designed by Nimika's father, Ratnakar, and Atlas Design Studio. Anand Gupta, an Indian origin dress designer settled in Italy has designed special clothes she would be wearing. Since the last one year, Nimika has been trained in various aspects by Shubha Kiran Mani, dance trainer and owner of Sizzling Guys dance academy, and Anupama Suvarna, a leading name in the world of fashion.
Nimika, who was working for an IT company based at Bengaluru, has since left her job and has concentrated on fashion world. She also has worked as playback singer for a few Tulu movies.
Nimika easily humbled the challenge posed to her by models in the auditions rounds conducted by the concern, Fashion ABCD, in Bengaluru, Mumbai, New Delhi and Chandigarh as she happens to be a singer in addition to being a model. Height of the models, public speaking, general knowledge, knowledge about the country etc were the basis for the selection in these auditions.
The final of the said pageant will be held on May 13.
