Mangaluru: Brand Vision Tusker lifts Coastalwood Premier League Cricket trophy

Mangaluru, Apr 16: 'Brand Vision Tusker' team owned by Brand Vision Event Management and Marketting, came out victorious in Suraksha Coastalwood Cricket Premier League (CPL) tournament held at Nehru Maidan in the city. The tournament was conducted under the aegis of Tulu Film Artists and Technicians Cultural Organization.

In the final match, Brand Vision team successfully met the challenge posed by Glitz Gladiators team. As reward for its achievement, the team won an attractive trophy and cash prize of two lac rupees. Glitz team, which was relegated to runner up spot, received trophy and one lac rupees in cash. In the finals, batting first, Glitz Gladiators team amassed a huge score of 113 for the loss of five wickets in ten overs, helped with 63 runs interspersed with seven sixes hit by Rakesh Dilse.

Deepak with 19 and Sandeep with 12 made significant contributions to the score. In reply, although Brand Vision team stumbled at the outset by losing Rakshit's wiket in the first over, got grand support by the partnership of Sampat Adyapady who came in at No. 3, and Oscar Fernandes. The duo, who provided a feast to the eyes of about 10,000-strong crowd through fours and sixes, led the team to the verge of victory. Sampat, who made 92 in 40 balls remained unbeaten, and scripted victory of his team. The match was stretched till the last over.

Addressing the concluding ceremony, movie actor, Sharatchndra Kadri, felt that the film fraternity of Coastalwood has succeeded in projecting a united face through CPL. He wished that sports tournaments like this will be held every year so that Coastalwood will further consolidate itself.

Registrar of Mangalore University, A M Khan, in his address, felt that lot of work needs to be put in towards further development of Tulu language. Noting that the university too has a Tulu study chair, he exhorted every person from Tulunadu to work to give more prominence to this language.

Film producer, Vijay Kumar Kodialbail, director of 'Namma Kudla', Leeladhar Karkera, former city mayor, Mahabala Marla, Kishore Bhandary, Illyas Sandis, Prasad Panikkar, Sheisha Muhammed, Balakrishna Parkala, Deepti Suvarna, Harish Rao, Rohan Shetty, Sarjeet, Chirag, Jitendra Kottary, Nishit Shetty, Sandeep Shetty Maravoor, Shreesha Ullal, Dhanaraj Ameen, Praveen Kodialbail, Ahswini Kotian and others were present.

Sampat Adyapady got the 'man of the match' award for his fine batting performance. He also bagged the reward meant for batsman with most number of sixers, and also the orange cap for scoring highest number of runs. Sachindra Shetty, who scalped 11 wickets in the tournament, won the purple cap.
