Kundapur: Police catch chain snatchers after chase

Kundapur, March 21: Two notorious chain snatchers wanted in several chain-snatching incidents were arrested by Kota station police on Tuesday, March 21.

Head constable Pradeep Nayak who was nearby on duty when a gold chain was being snatched from the neck of a woman near Karkada school, swung into action and arrested two chain snatchers.

Pradeep Nayak had gone near Karkada school for the verification of a passport application. Meanwhile, he saw the suspects running after snatching the chain and chased them for nearly ten kilometers. Pradeep successfully caught the suspects near Brahmavar Akashvani Kalikamba temple welcome tower and arrested them.

The arrested suspects are identified as Navunda residents Nagesh and Madhukar. They were wanted in five chain snatching incidents in Kota police station limits and two such incidents elsewhere. The accused have pledged the chains in Navunda and Mangaluru. Brahmavar police circle inspector Srikanth and Kota station staff have recovered valuables pledged by the suspected thieves.
