Koppal: Heartbreaking - 18-month-old boy crushed under bus driven by father

Daijiworld Media Network - Koppal (SP)

Koppal, Mar 3: In an incident that can be described as a cruel quirk of fate, a child which was trying to attract the attention of its father, a bus driver by profession, got crushed under the wheels of the same bus. This incident happened at Vidyanagara, Gangavathi in the district.

The father of the child, identified as K Channabasappa, works as driver of a school bus. As usual, he came home for lunch in the afternoon with his bus on Thursday March 2. At that time, his family members had visited a nearby temple where a religious programme was in progress. Channabasappa's wife, Vedavati, was standing near the temple with her son, 18-month-old Niranjan.

When the school bus driven by Channabasappa came that way, Niranjan who saw his father, got excited. To attract his father's attention and to speak to him, he ran behind the bus.

Channabasappa had not noticed that his son was calling him and following the bus. He moved the bus on reverse gear after which the child was crushed under the rear wheels of the bus. Alerted by the sound, Channabasappa got down from the bus and was devastated at the sight of the crushed body of his small child.

Vedavati said that she and her husband had planned to bring a big two-kg cake on the second birthday of their son to distribute it among the children of the locality. She said the god had other ideas and robbed them of the happiness in a cruel way. This was the second child of the couple. The couple remained inconsolable after the accident.

The rural police, who registered the case as an inadvertent accident, have taken over possession of the bus.

It's really a heart rendering to hear that a small child trampled down by his own father by mistake under the rear wheels.

I have heard and have been hearing now and then so many such cases, where the child has been crushed under his own father's wheels. No doubt, here the responsibility lies entirely on the driver where he has to make 100% sure and there will be no mistake.

May his soul rest in peace and almighty give strength and courage to the parents of the child to bear the loss of their beloved one.

easy to comment... very very tough to understand the condition of their fathers.... OMG.
Definitely it wouldn't be intentional and no father will be so cruel. but it's just the fate and destiny's drive which will make such accident... yes, we can be double careful... but if it had to happen according to happen... any smart father may end up doing this crazy disaster.

Heart rending. Indeed a blow to the parents of the little boy. Of course the father who was driving the vehicle did not realize that the little boy was anywhere near.

This is a lesson for all. Hope the departments concerned see the situation in the true perspective.

No words.I really pity that father first ,because he must be feeling more guilty because it happened under his bus,/he himself didnt notice it.At that age children are very very active and one cant even run behind them to catch .One has to be alert when small children are at home.Everyone of us one day or other experienced.Without warning they start running.Sad,and very tragic. Now no use of blaming father or mother. They are now punished enough for their life.May God give them enough courage to bear the loss of their beloved child.Heartfelt sympathy to them.I wonder why noone noticed or saw to catch that child.May his soul rest with angels.

Today's kids are so active that we need to have 200% concentration on them whenever we take them out.

The moment we loose our concentration on them they disappear quickly.

Its really Heartbreaking to read this news.

    May be yes.

My son is so fond of me that he follows me wherever I go. Keeping this in mind, whenever I take my car reverse I will make sure that my kid is not behind the car at any cost.

May be in this case, if the son is so fond of his father, the father should have seen back once o make sure everything is all good.

Not sure whom to blame but whatever has to happen will happen.
