Bengaluru, Feb 18: The chief whip in the Legislative Council, MLC Ivan D'Souza approached Malleswaram police station here on Friday February 17, seeking action against BJP state president B S Yeddyurappa and Union Minister Ananth Kumar for allegedly having discussed about the payments they made to BJP high command in New Delhi.

Ivan D’Souza has cited a CD in which Yeddyurappa and Ananth Kumar were discussing payments made to their party leadership. The state leaders were caught on camera discussing the matter at a BJP function on February 12. The CD had gone viral and attracted nationwide interest. Yeddyurappa, who had alleged few days before that chief minister Siddaramaiah had paid Rs 1000 crore to Congress high command, was silenced. Yeddyurappa and Ananth later said that the contents of the CD were not true.

Ivan alleged in his complaint to the police that the two leaders had planned to destabilise the Congress party which was evident from the conversation in the CD released by the Congress party.

But the police have not registered any case yet. They said, as the issue is that of corruption, they need to check whether they have jurisdiction over the matter. Accordingly they have decided to seek legal opinion.

“Yes. We have received the complaint from MLC Ivan D’ Souza. The complaint has been forwarded to the legal cell for opinion. We will take action based on the legal opinion we receive soon.” Malleswaram police inspector Venkatachalaiah said.
