Saudi Arabia: Cricketing talents shine on first week of Jotun BBCL Cup

Saudi Arabia, Jan 18: The first edition of Jotun Cup Big Bang Corporate League 2016-17 cricket tournament kicked off at the BMT floodlit grounds on December 30, 2016. Four matches were played.

Indomie Dragons pulled off their first victory over GSAL by 5 wickets. GSAL scored 94/7 in 10 overs. Indomie Dragons achieved the target in 7.3 overs thanks to Man of the Match, Ajmal for his unbeaten 60 runs.

Lothers CC opting to bat first after winning the toss compiled 120/4 in 10 overs, ALJ Toshiba went down fighting to Lothers CC and lost the match in a last over thriller by 11 runs. Zawahir of Lothers CC was awarded Man of the Match for his excellent batting of 42 runs.

In the third match, Habib XI batting first scored 125/6 in 10 overs, thanks to a superb knock by Ahmed Rizvi who scored 51 runs. Chasing the target of 126 runs, AVK were restricted to 90/8 in 10 overs and Habib XI won the match by 58 runs. Ahmed Rizvi was awarded Man of the Match for his 51 runs.

The last match saw Young Star pulling off a comfortable victory over Jotun Penguins. Batting first, Young Star scored 148/2 in 10 overs with Amir Siddique scoring a brilliant 67 runs. Jotun Penguins could manage just 79/7 runs in 10 overs and Young Star won by 58 runs. Amir Siddique was the Man of the Match for his unbeaten knock of 67 runs.

In the matches played on Saturday December 31, 2016 AVK went down to Lothers CC by 37 runs. Dany Antony was declared Man of the Match for his all-round performance of 41 runs and 3 wickets.

Habib XI beat IDB in the second match by 29 runs. Maqsood was Man of the match for his brilliant knock of 42 runs.

In the third match JP Warriors won against GSAL by 5 wickets. Hussain Anwer was declared man of the match for his batting performance of 45 runs.

Young Star won against ALJ Toshiba by 7 wickets in the last match. Amir Siddique was man of the match for his unbeaten 42 runs.
