FB posting : BJP MLA's family accused of assaulting Vivek Shetty

Belagavi, Jan 9 : It is being alleged that the supporters of Bharamagauda Alagauda (Raju) Kage, BJP MLA of Kagwad constituency, Belagavi district, thronged Vivek Shetty’s house and have assaulted him for updating a Facebook status against the MLA. Vivek Shetty is currently a congress worker and earlier he was in BJP and Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP).

This incident has taken place on January 1 and has come to light lately. The whole drama was recorded in the CCTV footages which clearly show the daughter and Ashok Kage, the brother of the MLA, along with 11 other rowdies entering the house of Vivek Shetty. They dragged Shetty out and tried to strangle him publicly. Surprisingly, no one has filed a complaint at the police station.

Responding to this allegation, the MLA has said that he is in no way involved with this assault and has alleged that this is a politically motivated conspiracy to bring him a bad name as APMC elections are approaching. However, the MLA has agreed that Vivek Shetty has defamed him by posting objectionable comments against him on Facebook.

Currently, Vivek Shetty is undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Meeraj, Maharashtra. He has sustained severe injuries. He also has a fractured leg.

Even after 9 days has passed post the incident, the police have not registered any case. Speaking to Suvarna News the Superintendent of Police of Belagavi district told that police will probe the case.

“No one has registered any complaint about this so far. As of now, we just have little information and nothing else. We’re sending a team to Meeraj hospital where Vivek Shetty is admitted so that we can take a statement from him and thereafter we’ll take up the case” Ravikante Gowda, SP of Belagavi.
