Daijiworld Media Network-Karwar (RJP)

Karwar, Jan 7: BJP MP from Karwar Ananthkumar Hegde, who was caught on camera thrashing doctors of a private hospital, has been booked.

The police registered a suo moto case against Ananth Kumar Hegde and his aide Krishna Esale, BJP district unit general secretary, for assaulting doctors.

In a CCTV video, Ananthkumar Hegde and Esale were seen assaulting doctors on January 3, alleging that they were not taking proper care of Hegde’s mother admitted in the hospital.

The video which went viral attracted national attention. But no case was registered by police as no one complained to them.

The police registered the case after examining the CCTV footage and the statement of the assaulted doctors.

A case has been registered under the provisions of the Karnataka Prohibition of Violence Against Medical Service Personnel and Damage to Property In Medicare Service Institutions Act, 2009, and Indian Penal Code sections 34, 341, 323 and 504.

One BJP MP said he will burn DK, another one hit the Doctors. Chief of BJP made people as moneyless. God give wisdom to these BJP's. First let them understand their responsibilities for being elected by people!

I don’t understand why people are trying to politicise this issue. It clearly is a personal matter. The assault on the doctors would be a spur-of-the-moment reaction seeing the ill treatment and negligence by the doctors and nursing staff towards his ailing mother. A mother's love is irreplaceable and any son or daughter would get angry if a hospital or a doctor is not taking proper care of his/her parents. Now talking about hospitals, let us understand that, today most of the hospitals have turned into a business with only a few exceptions. Lack of service & care and exorbitant charges has been a major issue in most of the hospitals. The hospital in which the MP's mother has been admitted appears to be a purely commercial hospital. There are umpteen number of hospitals across the nation who blatantly deny treatment to poor and needy people. Not that I have anything against hospitals and doctors but the points which I have mentioned is the fact which we are living with.
